First of all  HI my names Dave and i live in east yorkshire, UK.
I used to belong to an archery club near me for a few years about 5 years ago but unfortunatly it is no longer so now i have a bit more money id like to get back into it.
I have some private land which is more than big enough for practicing on. I always used to use the club bows back then and unfortunatly havnt a clue what weight i used to use or what bows so im pretty much back to square one apart from experience.
Im looking for a new cheep but decent bow for practicing with on my own (for now) however im not too keen on spending loads just in the case that i dont enjoy it as much as i used to.
Iv been looking at one of these -
http://www.aardvarkarchery.co.uk/...uct_id=331&search_category=66
However iv seen that you should not realy buy bows under £100 as they can be pretty poor, how true is this?
Are there any other options availible?
Thanks for any help
Dave

Hello Dave and welcome to the forum

It would really be best for you to go to a club and try the beginners bows, that way you won't waste your money buying something that isn't suitable for you.

I will have a look at the bow you are looking at and come back to you, meanwhile have a look here
http://archersrest.myfreeforum.org/about18.html
to see if there are any clubs near enough for you

They are listed as Bridlington but I don't know exactly where in Bridlington    They are a field archery club, I don't know what facilities they can offer but if they can't help they may be able to tell you of any other clubs locally.

Let us know how you get on

Brilliant, thanks again, il send them off a mail in the morning.
Im still looking at a bow possibly for when i know what weight i want e.t.c
There may be a problem with the KAP prostyle, bieng stupidly tall at 6 foot 6 and with a reach of 32+ i can only find the KAP at 68" which will be too small i think?
However there is a pack which contains all the starter kit and arrows which has the bows up to 70" and 33 reach which would be perfect, is thins a good option for £160?
Thanks
David

Have a look at this one, its another option and some suppliers offer a change of limbs for half price if if you exchange your original ones within the first year.

You will also need arrows, out of the beginners arrows available you may find aluminium will last you longest, if they bend you can straighten them, carbon will break as will wood, if you prefer wood the cheapest option is to make them yourself.

Hi Dave and welcome,

I've got the KAP Prostyle and I'm very pleased with it but at you height you'll probably need a 70" bow and KAP limbs only go up to 68" as you've discovered. Fortunately Samick Polaris limbs will fit the KAP riser so that's a possible combination for you. Hope this helps.

Hi Dave, welcome to archery.

Dawns suggestion to find a club and try some bows out is very sound advice. I would also add that the KAP pro-style is an excellent bow and would be a first class choice for a first bow. Add to that that you can change limbs for as little as £25 and they resell very well on ebay you really can't go wrong.

The KAP is what is called a trainer bow and trainer bows in general are very under rated. Sure you are less likely to reach GMB status or shoot for your County, but there is no reason why you cant reach First Class and arguably more important really enjoy yourself without breaking the bank.

I have a £55 KAP ProStyle and a Hoyt Nexus which with my SFC limbs at today prices would be ten times more expensive. But if I were to shoot an indoor Portsmouth with both bows, the chances are the scores would not be much different.

Avoid buying a kit though as you would be better off choosing your own arrows, sight, tabs etc.

Hi Dave,

The 70" bow is made up using Samick Polaris limbs as I suggested earlier.
