Don't worry about the dark side Bernie, it is all light and all shooting arrows sp witht hat in mind welcome to a new phase in your archery career
I must admit to knowing what you are talking about with the recurve=pain and compound=friendlier. What ever the outcome if it's friendlier and lets you keep shooting then I would consider this a wonderful new lease of life in your archery

Welcome to the dark side
I shoot both recurve and compound. I shoot bare bow with my compound have for years the best score i have ever shot was 290 out of 300 at 20yrds. indoor. my bow is set at 40 pounds i to are getting up in age and i enjoy archery to much to stop at 30 arrows i may shoot all afternoon so i want something that i can pull easy on my first arrow and my last. It would be nice to have someone else pickup compound barebow.

Good luck Bernie, its all about shooting what suits you best
I had a spell shooting a compound (barebow) a few years ago, enjoyed it at first but then when I picked up the recurve again I realised I prefered it, but if I feel I am going to stuggle with my recurve in the future I would go to compound again so that I could carry on shooting

Been 60+ I also know the feeling of age catching up with you, even with the compound I keep knocking off a couple pounds draw weight (shoulder problems), after all you still have to pull the gross weight over the cams before it lets off.
I am now at the point where I have ordered a new Bowtech Admiral in assist max 4 camo but with 40/50 limbs. Still waiting for the darn thing though as it's a special order.

Hope it come soon for you 3D, I still have to learn all the terms to do with the the compound but I'll get there.

There's nothing wrong with compound. I shoot compound when I feel that I'm fighting with my recurve bow. Shooting compound is a fun sort of way of enjoying archery.
At the moment, I have enjoyed shooting my compound and recently went back to shooting with the recurve. My recurve scores have been horrid. Very low on Bray Is, particularly. Can't seem to manage to group the arrows, either. Very frustrating. Its a good job I'm not relying on archery as a job otherwise I'd be out of money.

Anything that has a string and shoots an arrow is archery to me. Of course, I'd better have that attitude, or I'd have sharp things flying at me from Kathy's side of the range, eh?
