I'm just tweaking one of my longbows as I'm not happy with the flight of the arrow, and spotted on a website that they recommend 1/2" above centre for height of the nocking point (which I've always used), but the arrow fits below this point... I've always nocked above the 1/2" mark...

I know Longbows are a bit more forgiving regarding this... what are your thoughts?

If the arrow porpoises and you don't feel it leaving your hand, the nocking point is too high. If you feel the arrow leaving your hand it's too low. I set mine to the lowest point I can before I start to feel the arrow scratch my hand as it leaves the bow. I then will know instantly if I'm holding the bow in the wrong place because I can feel it. If all is well I feel nothing.
(Of course you can't do this if you wear a glove on your bow hand, so I don't)

Thanks English Bowman - The tweaking will have to wait 'till Friday, I'm just looking for a starting point. Can anyone clarify whether a nocking point of 1/2" means the arrow goes above or below the 1/2" mark???

If your nocking point is 1/2" above square then I'd nock beneath it.

Thanks EB - I set the nocking point between 1/4" and 1/2" and had an experiment yesterday eve - they flew nicely
