Right these are different to the ones I saw many many years ago
Blackheart I think they were made of rabbit fur would that seem right from the ones you remember
Anyway I think I will get some and give it a try so yes please Mark (corbarwolf) we would like a 'how to'

A HOW TO guide to applying feather tracers.
Did this at dinner time at work out of the back of my car. Not the best conditions for applying tracers as it was a little windy, but it was better to photograph in daylight, but i think i have covered all the necessaries.
Give it a try and let me know how you get on.
Good luck, Mark.
Caution:- Do not breathe these vapors in, you will feel off for a few days with a very stuffy head and running nose like a tap, it's not worth it, this is rough stuff much like most adhesives. If you can do it outside do so.
1ST Image shows the tools needed..........Tracers, of course, Loctite Super Glue with Brush, Knife with dull end, Pliers small with sharp cutting capability.
2ND Image shows the curly widest end of the feather which is an annoyance so cut it back.
3RD Image shows the application of a dab of glue to the nearest position you can go to next to your fletchings.
4TH Image shows the use of the dull knife to hold the cut end of the tracer into the dab of glue whilst holding the rest of the tracer and arrow shaft in the palm and finger tips of your other hand.
5TH Image shows the tracer solidly anchored to the shaft and the rest free floating.
6TH Image shows the pliers holding the tail end of the tracer and it is at this point you brush the glue around the arrow shaft nock side of the dab of glue already applied. (Needed to hold camera here or grow 3rd hand)
7TH Image shows the tracer being wound on to about half way at this point. The arrow needs to be securely held but with sufficient resistance to stop the arrow spinning freely to allow this stage to be done with ease. I use the target ball which i find invaluable at this point and just turn the nock with my other hand. Or you can sit down and put the pile inside your slipper/shoe instep and grip the shaft with your knees.......you'll find your own method that feels right for you.
This is the crucial stage as it is here you can end up with a blob of feather and glue. So i tend to blow softly over the top of the nock down the shaft as this whilst turning with the hand and holding the pliers with the other moves the feathers down and away from any glue
8TH Image shows the end of the wrapping, hold it here as the glue must set. Once done let go of the pliers and dab a little more glue at the tail end and use the knife to push it into the glue and hold again.
9TH Image shows the finished article with a little preening.
10TH Image shows the target ball i was talking about earlier to hold the arrows.
11TH image shows the wind speed and direction on the tracers

Well I have to agree with Mark... I luv these tracers !!!!.... just one point BE SPARING with the glue on one arrow I was a little over generouse cos it wouldnt stick and the vains of the tracer soaked up the glue like a straw.
The upshot was I had extra pointy bits on the arrow shaft and it went anywhere but where I wanted it to. However, I did manage to strip it off and start again. I use carbon arrows so I think I may have to use a gel super glue unless anyone knows of a good alternative?.

Just a thought on these things getting wet..... as a fly fisherman I use Mucillin silicone to dress the dry flies...just rub a little on the fingers and preen the feathers... not to much or they will stick together and defeat the object.
I am trying some with silicon and some without and cant see any difference other than the ones with silicon do seem to stay fluffy longer.
