Hi all,

I've come here because I don't know what else to do. I am in no way complaining about SDMstrings - just don't know how to proceed...

I placed an order with SDMstrings on May 16th - I received an order confirmation via email and money was transferred, however, I have not yet received my string. I don't know what the status is. I have sent an email, tried many times to phone the number provided - but get no answer.

I've come here becuase I know the person who runs SDMstrings was a regular here, so I'm hoping someone may still know him or be in contact with him or be aware of some circumstance (like he's on holiday for a month or so) and can simply let me know. I feel a little lost about it at the moment...

Many thanks, hope I'm not being an inconvenience

Hi wintellect,

Last time I spoke with Stu he was just staring a new job so he may be away from home possibly, I cant speak to him at the moment as my pc at home is buggered, but there are others of us who have contact with Stu, I'm sure they will see this thread soon.

Don't worry tho SDM hasn't disappeared, infact last time I spoke with Stu he was wanting to expand it and turn it into a full time (ish) job.

I placed an order in early May and was told the strings were being made and would be posted at the end of May, today I receied an email from Stu saying he was canceling all the orders he had and was refunding due to personal reasons. I eceived an email from Paypal that the refund was pending, no money refunded yet so I'm just waiting to see what happens.

I'm sure that Stu will refund as promised, the payment is probably pending due to coming off a credit card, which needs to clear before funds are sent.

If you are in desperate need, I could look at making a set for you.

Alternatively I have a good contact in the states, although there is a 12 week wait for his products

I knew 'Rats Tails' would hit the market sooner or later

Seriously though if paypal say its pending you'll get your money

Thanks chaps for the info, I didn't realise that's how Paypal worked regarding credit cards and payments pending.

No offence to Stu was intended but I apologise just in case.

I was looking forward to trying a string other than the shop bought ones I have been using up til now. I wanted to see for myself if there was any noticeable difference between the two. I currently use an 8125 18 strand string made by Stringflex which has always stetched during a 12 dozen round since the day it was bought, and its almost 12 months old now. As you can see I'm about due a new one!

Thanks for the offer Ratfighter, perhaps I should give it a go myself, it's about time I tried.

Do what I do and make your own

That way you can experiment with different number of strands, and best of all you get to make a string any colour you like. My last string was Yellow with dark red servings. I just made myself a replacement last week of a purple string with 6 fluro green strands in and midnight blue serving, it looks really cool, if I do say so myself. I made one of the female members of my club a fluro pink one about a month back too, I think it is garish, but she likes it.

That must have been a very poorly made string, or something else is happening. I usually find 8125 has a small bedding in period, where it will "creep" (unrecoverable strech), and then it is usually very stable.
