i know you get a lot of these so i thought id jump on the band wagon..
i started my beginner course on thursday and had a great time! i cant remember the bow length but i know it was marked as 20lb. we were using sights so i need to remember my sightmarks for next week (along with bow number and arrow appearance)
we started at 15 yards and then some of us moved up to 20 which felt like a big achievement at the time! i did twang myself once but i only have a tiny bruise as a war wound, my main issue was getting the string ending up down the back of my arm guard.
things to remember for next week are not to embrace the bow in a death grip and to stand still till i hear the arrow hit the boss.
things to remember when fantasising about my own equipment are that i cant see gold arrows with orange fletching when they land in the gold....even at 20yrds

Sounds like your progressing at the rate I did years ago.
Just don't to what I did, put an arrow pile scratch down your index finger from full draw!!!

ouch!
im hoping not to shoot anyone....especially not myself!
im not expecting to know everything yet but i figure if i have little goals for each training session then ill make steady progress - im keeping a journal of my musings and obervations
as for being hooked, i was pretty much on the way before i picked a up a bow! i was off sick and spent hours researching this and that, watching videos of various shoots... ive even made my own formaster (rigid) from the patent drawings!
originally the main reasons i wanted to give archery a go was to meet new people (having just moved to a new area), have a hobby and hopefully sort some of my confidence issues (which dont come across at all online). Now that ive found out the level of tinkering involved (potentialy) i think it will satisfy my obsessive tendancies perfectly!
on the subject of shooting people have any of you watched this? (have the sound track on) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5VPJVtIkjc

Level of tinkering!!! Your in heaven then!! A few degress here, a couple of turn there and you get......
OMG what have I done, I can't hit a bar door!!!
There is always something to tinker with in our game its 1 of the joys.
Have you decided what disipline your going to shoot yet??
