My 1st NFAS shoot for 2008!

After a hectic start to the year with the target side of things i had the chance to get my feet back onto NFAS soil again for first time this year!

It's been a few years since i attended a shoot at Crusader and as i remember it it's always been a very nice course usually well laid out and interesting. And this one was no different to what i remembered, with the added bonus of a few 3D targets.
The weather forecast was a cool day with some rain and hail mid afternoon, but thankfully we had a sunny day all day with just a little nip in the air (a bit 'pearl harbour' as they would say).
Ratty and i shot together and joining us in our group was SammyG and a guy called Pat 'the bowslinger'! We named him 'the bowsinger' because he threw his bow onto the dirt after failing to hit a target - shame on you Pat!    your poor Sebastian Flute limbs!   We had a great day with the usual banter
I did try to get him to join the ARmy but as yet it looks like he's not made it
I struggled with my distance judging as always and with only 2 weeks to go before the Scottish champs i now need to work on the distance thing   but at least i know my weakness. I have a few ideas that i can try so i will be putting them into practise during the week
The one thing i did find myself doing was rushing with my judgement, i felt a little under pressure to hurry, i don't know why as nobody in the group mentioned anything about me being slow. It's always in the back of my mind as in the past i have had some quite unnecessary comments about how long it takes me to shoot, I am aware that sometimes i may spend a while (maybe 3-4 minutes) working the distance out, but that's also the difference between hitting or missing the target! I have to erase these thoughts from my head and go back to what works for me, and not worry about what people think
What took results so long?? we finished shooting at just before 4 o'clock but we didn't get results until just before 6 o'clock! this really is too long to keep folks waiting in the cold. There was a mountain of raffle prizes too many in my opinion. People were actually starting to leave before results due to the waiting around i can't say i blame them. I usually get a bit frustrated that some folks leave early but in this case it was too cold to be hanging around for 2 hours before the announcement of results - sorry to Crusader but you do really need to hurry things on a little particularly this time of year

Ratty shot very well and beat me! by 10 points i think. He got a 3rd place he seems to work well with his new Matthews thingy! I achieved 1st place although i think i was the only one in ladies U/L. Typical!

All in all we had a great day. At this moment in time i don't have the confidence i would like to have 2 weeks before a championships so with a lot of work and practise i should be feeling better by the time we leave for Scotland
