Jimbow has agreed to buy me a new sight of my Xmas, was really excited about this till I has a good look at my kit. Don't get me wrong my stuff has served me well so far but it is basic. My riser a Hoyt eclipse is fine if a touch heavy, my limbs however were under £100 and quite slow and noisy on release, my sight has a tendancy to loosen and the block has been known to take a nose dive to the ground (pins shake loose cause of cheap limbs) plus sight aint micro adjustable.
So my problem is do I get a nice sight that does all I want or a good fast set of limbs that not only shoot faster but because of that reduce my sight gaps to a more reasonable level. I have been offered the use of a surlock sight to use for as long as it takes to save up for my own if I spend jimbows money on new limbs.
If I go for limbs do I get hoyt to match the riser or border for speed both are great limbs and will shoot miles better than what I have. I will not be upping the poundage still keeping to 30lbs cause I'm only little.
What to do, I'm stuck. Limbs make more sense if I reason things out but I like the idea of a shiny new sight. Head or heart that is the question?

just my own feminine logic, mind you, but i'd be inclined to get the sight. you don't have to borrow that way, and the bow will seem to shoot better once you have a reliable sight on it because you won't have to worry about things flying off. having a ferrari is great, but without the steering wheel it's kind of useless, eh?

Over here in Sunny Australia , when we advise people on things to do we always say , Make sure that you spend up on your arrows and accessories as they can be transfered from bow to bow and be used for quite a while (if your bow poundage doesn't change too much ), bow no matter whether they be cheap of expensive will always shoot the arrow the same and therefore are more than capable of a perfect score. It is just the feel of the bow in the hand that varies.

I think your reasoning is on the limbs is OK , but you must remember that if all you are going to achieve are slightly faster limbs, and lets remember that 30lbs is still 30 pounds, so the percentage increase in the "cast" of the limbs and therefore the closing of the sight gap isn't going to be that much IMHO

So Blackcat from my .02 pence worth I would get that sight cause you can transfer that from bow to bow easily and look around and do some home work on best value for money on the limbs ( I don't mean cheapest I mean best performing)

The sight would be my first choice to change, shooting field most targets are well within the range of the bow as it is just now, but someone at the club hates the noise my limbs make and thinks they should be binned. I'm used to the noise so don't really notice much. New limbs would be nice but can only afford one or the other just now. As said on the main forum I've narrowed my sight choice down to two, but it's an awful lot of money to get wrong (same with the limbs).

Blackcat this noise your limbs make, is it when you loose?

If so it may be worth putting a few extra twists in you string, I would say probably another 6 then try your bow, if its a bit better then try a few more, if its worse then try a few less, it may not work but its worth a try

Just remember to count how many you put in or take out so you can put it back to how you started if you feel you need to

Again, try adjusting the string, your bracing height may be too high, once set right measure the bracing height and check each time you put your bow together, appologies if I'm going over old ground here but it does sound as though your string needs adjusting.

Once the string is right go get yourself that shiny new sight

Thanks guys I've adjusted the bracing height so often but it doesn't seem to help. Have dismantled the whole lot now including the arrow rest and am going to set the bow up from scratch again and re tune the whole lot at the wekend. If that doesn't work then I'm just going to shoot it as is. As said its not held me back to much up till now.

Well I promise to keep you posted, so far the sight is a pain but thats just cause I've got to re do all my sight marks.
Have taken it off bow for this weekend only as shooting a competition and don't have enough confirmed marks, so back to the old one for now. Tuesday next week we're doing a portsmouth indoors so it should give me a great idea of how this sight stacks up against the one I have. Reports to follow!
