I am now in a position to announce that I have been selected onto the panel to rewrite the rules and constitution of the NFAS. Full details of the rest of the team will be announced in the NFAS newsletter but we have been given permission from the Exec to make ourselves known.
A few months ago, a request was made in the NFAS newsletter for volunteers I put myself forward as a candidate. I seem to have spent the best part of 10 years being involved in reorganisations and the best part of 25 years being involved in politics, unions and committees and I was honoured to be selected.
The NFAS is in need of an overhaul and for the first time in a long time, I actually believe in the cause I have been selected to work on (it certainly makes a change from financial, job cutting, condition removing attacks on the workforce).
The team consists of a wealth of experience, ranging from legal experts, h&s experts, people working within the industry of archery as well as a large number of popular and well known faces within the sport. I am confident that whatever comes out of the re-write, it will be done with sympathy, common sense and with the very best interests of the Society.
There is a massive amount of work to do, the world has changed around us and we have to take cognisance of the fact that this Society has evolved into a large organisation. The foundations laid at the conception were not intended or designed for the burden they now have to carry and no amount of underpinning is putting things right. The time is right to take things apart and build a society designed for tens or thousands operating in the 21st Century.
We are representatives, albeit unelected, for those not sitting on the panel, therefore I am open to take on board other peoples views. Please bear in mind though there are a number of areas that we are legally bound to avoid but I will always try and represent the fairest approach to change. My email will be published and feel free to contact me at shoots. I need your views to help me arrive at a balanced result. After all I don’t expect you will all want to shoot matt black compounds, unlimited stylee!
