Finally got to shoot my new longbow on Saturday. Spent 10 mins with another longbow archer setting the knocking point and bracing height so all would be well. In front of an audience of traditional archers I calmly walked up to the 20 yard line, knocked my first ever arrow from the bow. Drew the string back and let go.... and bang straight into the compoung X on the target.
I strolled over to collect the arrow to comments along the lines of "you can go right off some people", You will never know how much I enjoyed that.
Needless to say I didn't manage to repeat the shot, but who cares
Now it's back to the recurve and practice practice practice for the Highland open this coming weekend.

Oh, I know that feeling (snicker). Sometimes things just fall in place, and what you love doing becomes inspiring and ego-stroking. Getting a hole-in-one without an audience doesn't do much for you, but doing it in front of peers is great fun. Rock on!
