Well I have booked myself into a wooden arrows shoot 2 weeks today, and just realised I only have 3 wooden arrows
I bought all the components to make a dozen last year but have not got around to doing anything about it yet.
I have dug them out from behind all the other archery equipment, got all the bits and some glue But can't find my taper tool now did I put it somewhere silly last time I used it which must have been a year or more ago or have I lent it to someone if so who
Anyway I have decided to make up 6 of them, I am tryimg a new idea printing the crestings onto paper labels from my PC so I have done that, trimmed them to fit, and rubbed the shafts down with wire wool
Now to stick the labels on, seems ok so far so where is the varnish after a search in the shed I have found some must have been there ages as the tin is quite rusty but the varnish looks OK after I managed to prise off the lid
Right given them one light coat with a rag, (dont want to smudge the printing) and wait for them to dry I am taking photos and will put them on the forum as I get a few more
Now I need to hunt down my taper tool or find someone who has one to lend me
More soon
Found my taper tool
Another problem, I am not happy with the labels once I had applied the varnish the paper labels began to curl up at the corners, when the varnish had dried I tried to glue them back down but it looks a bit messy
Now I have printed off the crestings using water slide transfer paper, I have used this before and altough fiddly it did come out well.
So its strip them down and start again

Well I have stripped them down and put on the tranfers, they look a lot better now
i have given them 6 coats of varnish, I think they will need one more, then I can start fletching

Wel there all finished ready for Sunday, hope to go to our wood for an hour tomorrow just to try them out

I have put the pictures on the forum, hope they are of interest to some members
