hiya ratfighter
I do see your point, but what the archer has to understand is that failure to hit the target is an option, and has to try their best, but accept the consequences and think that was the best I can do, then try and improve
target panic is nothing to do with archery ability, style or equipment, it is a sub conscious mental state that stops you going for the shot, this can happen in many ways, and breeds bad style, lack of anchor being the most favoured one and without making the girls smirk, premature release
the only problem with everything staying exactly the SAME is that way nothing changes, nothing gets worse, but there again nothing ever gets better, and we should be striving for improvement not stagnation

I still don't agree and now I don't agree with Bushy
Archery is about repetition, target panic sets in when repetition is overiddenby the conscious.
To get over target panic you have to trust routines, like driving a car.
To improve you have to refine routines.
Trying to get rid of TP by forcing yourself to get better is like driving from A to C without calling at B, which is great, unless B was the petrol station

Target panic is a bad habit, usually picked up unknowingly at first. One way to overcome it is to learn a new, good habit, deliberately. That new habit can be used instead of the old bad one. I can selcet whether to use the old habit or the new one. I don't select the old one(with tp) for obvious reasons.

Hey everyone, just remembered I hadn't updated this thread!
Just to say a big thank you to everyone for being so helpful, I've improved a massive amount over the past couple of months, and I'm really starting to enjoy my shooting again. I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm "cured" as it's all too easy to fall back into bad habits, but I'm much much better than I was. Thanks very much!
