Just seen the trailer for the new Stallone film "John Rambo". The opening sequence has him bowfishing. Later in the film he bags some unsuspecting terrorist with the same bow.

Well 'ard.

Does he reel in the terrorist after he's shot him, and clobber him around the head with a mallet?

You realise, I am going to have to watch the film, if only to work out what bow he is using.

Certainly using a canted style....

Bit of Trivia:

This one has a kill count of 236, the most for any Rambo film, that averages 2.59 killings per minute!*

*May or may not include any fish that he catches!

from george tekmitchov at hoyt -

Quote:
1. Mr. Stallone is left-handed and shoots bows weighing up to 70 pounds quite regularly. He does not have the best form but he enjoys it.

2. He is using a Hoyt Matrix and a Hoyt Gamemaster in the film he is making right now. He requested the Gamemaster at 70# and traded me for 50# limbs after a few weeks. This apparently has to do with the fact that he's expected to remain at full draw for unreasonable lengths of time during the filming process.

(snip)

Ah, adding this to answer the original query- the bow used in the second Rambo film was a custom built Hoyt Spectra with glass limbs and Omega wheels, which transfer the cables laterally during the power stroke, obviating the need for a cable guard (if you see how the bow is carried in the film you understand why this was a good thing).

The commercially available bow package (which included the Streamlight flashlight stabilizer, a custom "survival knife" with compass and necessities kit, take down arrows made by Easton, and a few other odds and ends including a rather well-thought out backpack for the whole thing) used laminated limbs and normal wheels, with a cable guard.

A complete kit in good condition fetches a ridiculous amount of money these days.

The bow used in the third film was a Hoyt ProVantage.

just finished watching Mr John Rambo si i got few words to say so here it is

he shoots 2 different bow, flat bow for bowfishing and compound for terrorists
in the whole film he shot 1 arrow with flat bow and got instant kill (thats fish)
and he shoot 6 arrows with compound and he got 2 straight kills and 2 wounds then kills with second arrow(not so good shooter after all ) and all these shoots are within i would say30 seconds
there is no stance in his shooting(he even jumped once just before releasing ), no anchor point anywhere will do him, and no follow through, as soon as he shots one arrow he's pulling next one out of his back quiver!
and yeah he doesnt use sight
i'll put some screen shoots in suporters lounge

joe
