|
|
Hi.
I am finishing my beginner course and I am absolutely hooked.
Unfortunately the club where I took the course does not provide bows to continue and improve a bit more before buying my own kit. I was looking on the net and I really liked the looks of the spigarelli spiga revolution riser. Does anyone here use it? If so could you please comment on it.
Or just some notes if you think it's ok for a beginner.
I think you can take the clicker out, I was thinking on doing that to try to improve.
Thank you very much.

Hi Ricneto
The only advice I can offer is what I would tell any of our beginners, its a great deal to do with personal choice, but because you are just beginning you don't really know what you are looking for.
A few pointers -
Don't buy before you try, and try as many as you can, some bows feel right for some people but not for others, they can look the same but when it comes to shooting you may just not get on with it.
Don't spend a great deal of money on your first bow because your style will develop and after a few months you may be wanting to change the poundage a little. There are archery shops out there (Merlin is one I know of) that will offer you a good deal on a new set of limbs if you change them within a year of buying the bow, this way if you do spend a bit more at least you can upgrade fairly cheaply.
Ask if other club members will let you shoot a few arrows from their bows, most people should be OK with this and will stand with you and offer advice, just be aware if you do this that you don't take on a bow too heavy for you though.
Hope this helps and do let us know how you get on wont you.

Thank you very much for your reply Dawn.
I know I should go for a cheap bow as (hopefully will need / want to change soon), I actually was thinking on buying a wood riser bow, (I love the wood risers). But I was told they really limit our evolution and are not very reliable (break?). So I thought on a cast riser.
I asked if I could use the club bows for a bit longer and in the meanwhile (when I met members) ask if I could try their bows, but until now I really know almost no one to ask that.
I thought about this riser because I think it accepts different limbs, so I could keep the riser.
Thanks once again for your kind reply.
Regards

You are welcome Ricneto
Regards bows with wooden risers, either one piece or take downs, I have had 3 for the past 20 years, they are my training bows and have given me fantastic service.
All I would say is don't buy the really cheap ones that are around, go for something a little better made by a reputable manufacturer, any decent archery shop should be able to advise you on that, and again try before you buy But you also need to take into account what type of archery you are going to do.
Maybe someone else here will be able to advise you better as I shoot a KG1 metal handle laminate limbs, or an American Flat Bow, therefore I am not very up to date with what is available wooden recurve, although you are right they always look good

Dear Dawn,
Thank you very much for your reply. It was very helpful. I will follow your recommendation. I will have my last lesson and will discuss that with the members.
I will go to a archery shop this weekend if I cannot use club equipment. I can't wait to go on the sunday afternoon and try to improve, I always feel the lessons are too short.
I will discuss it with the shop staff, I am sure they will be able to help me. I was going to post their name but am not sure if it's ok, it is not Merlin though, it's too far from me.
Again thank you very much for all your help.
I will post if I buy a bow.
Can't wait to meet up in a tournament
Thanks

A spiga revolution was the the bow I bought after my beginners course and still my only recurve. Its a very good bow, I love shooting it and it is capable of far better than I am, that said the only way to see if it is right for you is try it out, for me I knew it was right after the first arrow I shot, you might be equally sure you hate it after one shot!
There is quite a lot written about this bow on the internet but take it with a pinch of salt, looking closer it seems that an awful lot of of the strongest opinions on both sides of the its fantastic/its rubbish debate come from folks who have never actually shot one!
I just ignore the clicker on mine, it doesn't get in the way of the arrow if you dont put it under it.

Thanks for your reply dtalbot.
I really apreciate your comments, as it is nice to hear that you bought yours right after the beginners course and you are quite pleased with it.
I will do what you recommended, i called the shop today and they have a shooting range so i can give it a go and see if me and the bow are ment to be together or not
I didn't managed to read any reviews/ exams on this bow as the google results came mostly in german
But I am really happy with your comments and the fact that you got it as a first bow and are happy with it.
Thank you very much for your email and help
