Westcott Indoor 3D shoot 19th Jan 08

Ferret and Hugh had laid out an interesting course, which included a few moving targets ingeniously built by Jonathan...

Ferret gave us the low-down on shooting rules - 2 arrows at each target (some were a and b), scoring 11 for an inner inner kill, 10 for an inner kill, 8 for a kill, or 5 for a wound.

Last year's flying geese had been replaced by flying pigs    James was very proud to get one

There was also an owl which rocked from side to side

I killed it on my 2nd time around the course!

Everybody was having fun scoring and collecting arrows

I was rather cruel to the duck, piercing his neck   Trish in my group got a nice kill

James was very happy to get an 11 for the deer - not bad for his first 3D shoot!

My proud moment came with a 10 on the croc under the (real) waterfall

Ferret and Terry in their special (tea-stained   ) 3D T-shirts

The course layers worked very hard, as did Cass on admin, and they were all absolutely knackered after 5 sessions over 2 days. They even managed to shoot a session each as well - respect!

At the end I managed to beat off all the competition (yes I actually had some this time   ) to take 1st place for Ladies FS, while Hugh took the honours for the Gents FS with a very impressive score into the 300s

This was by no means an easy shoot, a real test of skill, especially the moving targets - ask Selwoc what the flying pigs did to his arrow   - and the rat popping up and down behind the sack was very hard to hit. There will be another one next year, same time, so make sure you book early as places go very quickly!

RuthyMC is absolutely right, we were lucky to get in on the Sunday 10am session, so never met you Ruthymc maybe next time, but what a brilliant idea and so very cleverly done..........well done Westcott!

3 of us went from Centaura and came back with two 1st and a 2nd (mine), chuffed to bits.

I did manage to stop the proceedings by unintentionally peircing the tree foliage to the moving owl (as can be seen in Ruthymc's photos) which had the affect of moving side to side with the owl, which raised a nice laugh.
All in all a great day out and as Ruthymc has said it is booking up already, just posted mine off for 2009
If anyone wishes to see more photos i have posted some on our website http://www.freewebs.com/centaura7/westcott200108.htm
Hope thats ok with you Liam?

I went the weekend before, to the Gnas affliated sessions, with my Joe. It really was a very fun thing to do. He shot his longbow, and got a silver medal, and I decided to shoot freestyle for the first time ever! I have to say, it was quite fun hitting things for a change!

We didn't have the rat in our session, but we did have a rather fab doughnut break!
