Never played this game so I shall be buying in some faces and practicing me thinks........

Just one question Liam, I notice on looking closer at the score zones we have a 9 and a 10 and a baby 10 (normally used by compound sighted) as people have reffered to them as , so I am suggesting that for sighted the 10 is the 10 and the baby 10 is the X...do I have this right or have I confused you as well ?
Joe(thebow)M

I'd like to add on to what Steve B. is asking about scoring, and request a posting of a run down of the scoring method just to be on the safe side.  Is the following correct for the 60 cm target and we will not use the;

Imperial rounds under GNAS rules, where they have score values 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9. In addition, there is an inner 10 ring, sometimes called the X ring.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

Standard FITA targets are marked with 10 evenly spaced concentric rings, which generally have score values from 1 through 10 assigned to them, except in outdoor Imperial rounds under GNAS rules, where they have score values 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9. In addition, there is an inner 10 ring, sometimes called the X ring. This becomes the 10 ring at indoor compound competitions. Outdoors, it serves as a tiebreaker with the archer scoring the most X's winning. The number of hits may also be taken into account as another tiebreaker. In FITA archery, targets are coloured as follows:

1 ring & 2 ring - white
3 ring & 4 ring - black
5 ring & 6 ring - blue
7 ring & 8 ring - red
9 ring & 10 ring - gold
Archers score each end by summing the scores for their arrows. An arrow just touching a scoring boundary line, known as a Line Breaker or Line Cutter, will be awarded the higher score. Values scored by each arrow are recorded on a score sheet and must be written in descending order (e.g. if an archer scores 5, 7, 6, 10, 9, 8, this must be recorded as 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5). During and before scoring no one is allowed to touch the arrows. This is so that if there is disputed arrow score then a judge may be called and the judge will make a ruling on how the arrow lies. The archer in charge of scoring on a target at a tournament is known as the ''Target Captain'' and in larger tournaments, they may be assisted by a ''Target Lieutenant''; a Target Captain will make an initial judgement on all disputed arrows. Under FITA rules, in major tournaments, after scoring, each hole is marked before arrows are retrieved. In the event of a "pass through" (the arrow passes straight through the target) or "bouncer" (arrow hits the target and bounces out), points may be awarded to an unmarked hole. Under GNAS rules, and in some smaller tournaments, in the case of a bouncer, the archer must step off the shooting line and hold their bow in the air. A judge will then make a decision as to whether the archer is permitted to shoot a replacement arrow. If an archer accidentally shoots more arrows than they are allowed, the highest scoring arrow is not counted.

Good idea guys

I haven't done anything like this before either so we will see

Youve got it right Steve 10 is a 10 and 'baby' 10 is the X

I'll do a thread on the scoring before we get going
Liam

For the 60cm face users the below will apply

In FITA archery, targets are coloured as follows:

1 ring & 2 ring - white
3 ring & 4 ring - black
5 ring & 6 ring - blue
7 ring & 8 ring - red
9 ring & 10 ring - gold

For this comp we will have inner most ring (circle in centre) counting as an X

IF (big IF) the XV had a 7" bracing height to claw back a little bit of speed, the Ł notes would probably be on the table. As it stands I'll wait for the Prestige before making any decisions. Even then, since I am aware of developments at Merlin for 2008 I might still wait and shoot the Trykon a little longer. I wonder if I can get the Hoyt modified to have a positive stop?

As far as swaying, usually only with the addition of Bushmills and sorry Bushy as far as swinging, your not my type

Pulling out

Sorry guys and girls, if you've read my blog you will know I'm having a little bow troubles at the moment and I'm too busy sorting this out so haven't been able to shoot the rounds needed. I'm going to pull out for now until I get this sorted out. But don't worry I will be back.
Joe(thebow)M

Good morning Liam

I would like to enter into the following league if it is ok.  I'll use
one of my laminated longbows I've made with aluminum arrows.  I'm
only two months behind (Jan & Feb) but March through December should
be good shooting weather (I hope)...  I can catch up on my scores in July &
December for this league.

Anyway, I'd like to add this league to the two I'm in so far.

Thanks!

Added to the league
Íjász

Hi,
Just read this thread (previousley thought it was only a league for 'real' competitions!
So if its OK to shoot in my garden I'd like to join in.

Peter,
Scottish (but resident in Hungary)
Wooden Arrows (Kassai Raven bow)

I know that I may be a late entrant, but if I've read the other threads correctly (?) then I can make up the missed rounds in July and December?  As an isolated newbie a competition like this could just give me the incentive I need, to WORK at it.  Besides even if I can't make up the missed rounds I'd still like to play with the big boys

Regards

Íjász
Liam

No problems Ijasz, I'll get you entered right away, I may myself will be a late entrant to the wooden arrow league as soon as my equipment arrives
Íjász

Thanks Liam, looking forward to competing with you in the wooden arrows league, I guess I really will be playing with the 'big boys (and girls)' now
Seriously, really looking forward to it
sambow

would like to join your league

I have just found your forum and would like to have a go in your league

Can I enter two categories:

Sambow
English
Compound Sighted

AND

Sambow
English
Compound Unsighted (well somebody had to sooner or later)

Can someone tell me where/how do I enter my scores each month?
Liam

Your in the leagues, you might even win one of them

To submit your scores just look for the current months thread in the Target League forum and put it there, you'll see the format required.

You can also catch up on as many missed months as you like in December
