Up & Down WeatherWell I know I shouldn't complain as it's only early March and out
here where I live it's suppose to snow in the Winter, and in March...
Gosh darn it though,,, one day is nice (mid 40's +), then here comes
the snow the next, along with the cold and wind. I've cleared the snow
off my range twice since last weekend when I shot my March league
matches for AR...
I had plans of shooting this weekend as well. About two months
ago I made and gave my longtime friend and boss a longbow made of
Birch, backed with Maple, and we've both been chomping at the bit to
do some archery shooting. I thought I'd get him hook real good and
he'd join AR and get into one of the Archery Leagues we have.
Doesn't look as if it'll be this weekend... More snow and cold on the
way...

At least it must make your weather predictors work to earn their keep

Yes it does! Our forecast for the area I live in comes from far away, Cheyenne, Wyoming (almost 200 miles southwest of me) and it's hardly
ever on the money.
The weather station on T.V. says one thing, while the computer says another,
seldom the two are ever right and I've learned to divide the two and take the average of what is claimed to be. Still, I wish it would just warm up.

Here we go again... There is a major snow storm going on here
and everything is closed. I heard the Black Hills, South Dakota
(just about 50 miles north of me) has had snow in the "Feet" not
inches...
I shoveled the sidewalk and we have at least five to eight inches
I would say, along with 60 mph wind gust, and at least a 30+ mph
steady wind... Nothing like the central plains in the Spring time....
Good day to make longbows. I might take a vacation day today...

Phew Joe that amount of snow must be a shock to the system
We complain here about rain, hail, wind and thunderstorms but at least it is sunny and quite warm in-between
Just wish it would settle a bit so I knew weather to wear warm waterproofs or cool tee shirts

This has to be one of the oddest years I can remember when it
comes to the weather out here. I've been in this part of the
country for 20 years, have seen very bad winters and scortching
summers along with drought, but I've never seen this odd of
weather in the month of May...
You are right Dawn about what to wear? I quit making plans for
the next day...lol! Well I won't go naked, don't want to embarrass
the locals.....
Geezzz, wouldn't that make the 9:00 o'clock new. "Naked man saw
standing in his yard holding his longbow....." I'm sorry, I just
couldn't resist that one.
Bushy, I never really minded snow until about 20 to 25 years ago.
Now I just wish it would go away so I can get on with Spring and
summer. However, if I see a weatherman I'll put in a good word
for ya and we'll see if we can't get you some snow...

Hi Joe,
My son has spent his sandwich year, from Hatfield University in England, studying at Concordia University in Montreal. My wife and I, and youngest son, went to visit him at Christmas. The temperatures there were quite a shock to our system. We really enjoyed the snow though, which is something we never really get in Cornwall anymore.
Something that really impressed us was the way the transport system was, as far as we could see, totally unaffected by the bad weather. Huge snow ploughs would clear the snow from the roads and load it into tipper trucks to be taken away. The pavements / sidewalks were cleared by small vehicles not much bigger than a golf cart. So well organised !
Hopefully spring is now on it's way - it certainly is here. Bluebells abound and all the trees are gaining their colour. We're off to the Bluebell shoot in South Wilts tomorrow - all we need now is for the rain to hold off !!
All the best,
Les

Have a good time at the Bluebell shoot in South Wilts, Les. I do hope
you get good weather for it. Those larger cities like Montreal I believe
have a pretty darn good snow removal system in place. I live in a small
town of maybe a population of 1000, and I will give the handfull of city
workers credit, they get the snow removed from the streets in a timely
manner. If the locals would just learn to shovel their sidewalks now...
I always make sure my sidewalk is clear so the kids don't have to trudge
through snow as they walk by on their way to school. It's to bad the
neighbors can't do the same for the young ones. Just laziness on their
part is the best I can say for those who don't shovel their sidewalk(s)
they are responsible for. I wish we had an ordanence in place that would
fine those folks who don't clear their walks... Sorry to go on about that...
It is claimed now by our weather forecast that Spring is here. We'll see?
Today is suppose to be in the 60's and throughout the next week the
same. In a few days we'll never know we had a Spring blizzard. That
wind I think was the worst.
I did get a bow made in my workshop yesterday - there wasn't much
else to do after shoveling the sidewalk...
