Thoughts On FITA World Cup MatchesI've been watching on 'YouTube' the FITA World Cup Matches
from 2007 & 2008,,, pretty good stuff and I'm sure they have
most likely used this 12 arrow shot format for sometime, but
just last night it kind of dawned on me something I'd like to
see FITA go with and that is extending the number of individual
shots from 12 arrows to 18 arrows. I would also like to see the
team matches extended from 3 arrows each to 6 arrows each.
Now my only reasoning is that I enjoy watching these matches
as I'm sure many do, and 12 individual arrows just seems like to
few arrows. You just get involved in the match and it's over before
you know it. Same with the team matches. I feel a greater number
of arrows per match would make for a more exciting match as well
as giving the archers a bit more room to make a come back from a
poorly placed shot.
Granted, there would still be the blow outs and the close matches
as well, but the competitive spirit with an extended match I feel could
reach the spectator crowds and although appealing now,,, could yet
become even more appealing.
If time is an issue I also feel the 'shot clock' could be cut from 30
seconds to 20 seconds as from what I've seen as soon as the archer
has released their arrow, they are readying their next arrow while
their opponet is shooting. This alone would gain 4 minutes per match
by cutting the shot clock back and extending the number arrows shot
per individual matches (one on one)... The archers don't always use
the entire shot clock time now, but of course sometimes they do.
Any thoughts?
