The Longbow Shop, Quality Service.

I have spent the last couple of days swapping emails with Jason at the Longbow shop.

I just thought I would post to say how helpful and patient he has been with my constant stream of questions. Apart from answering the things I asked he also answered the things I hadn`t even thought of asking yet.

Bearing in mind I was just asking about stuff and had not actually bought anything, I was very impressed, and this lead me to place an order with him.

Anyway I just thought he deserved a mention.

Cheers

Mike.

Probably shouldn't massage his ego any more, but he is good isn't he.  Did the same for me with my woodies.

Kerry and the kids are the main reason I have had to take up arrow making, and most unreasonable customers they are too

Is that a round-about way of saying they lose/break a lot?

I try not to shoot myself too often Bernie, I've found it can be quite painful
Sorry, couldn't resist that.  I do shoot - the whole family started back in October and have just finally finished getting all our equipment so its all been quite exciting.
I'm happy to leave the arrow making to Sid seeing as he clearly has nothing to do with his spare time and I never seem to have any spare time!  and I would like to point out that the only breakage has been one of his own lol although the girls are trying his patience somewhat over the choice of colouring on theirs

See what you have started here Jase, and you call that service

I bet you are smiling though Jase well done on the service to your customers mate

Sid, I am sure you will soon be the expert arrow maker.
Kerry, good to see another lady shooting and I am also glad the girls enjoy the activity.
As dawn said would love to see pictures of what you have created
sid

Just to let you know how I got on for my first attempt here are some pictures.

Top tips for beginners

Do not speak to anyone while fletching.

Do not use fletching tape if you bite your nails.

If you have 3 women in the house just make the arrows for them as a surprise, do not ask them for fletching/nock colour combinations, it will put your operation back weeks.

Thanks again to Jason for the advice.

Cheers

Mike.

Great job sid, they look really nice

As Jase said in a previous post its a good tip to pop a blob of glue on the end of the fletching, if the arrow slips through grass it can peel the end of the fletching up, the blob of glue stops that happening
Chedawan

Nice looking arrows there Sid, after my recent first attempt, I can add to your top tips with the following:

Do NOT under any circumstances allow you cat in the same hemisphere as you whilst any of the process takes place!  Mine managed, to fletch, crest and varnish himself, and then complained loudly when he was washed.  and it's an absolute b****r to remove cat hair from a layer of varnish.

Great to see you've had a good experience from Jase, it's those sorts of things that keep a customer for years to come!
joe croatia

well done mike, they look good

My top tips:

Dont speak to OH when he's making arrows - unless you want to be sworn at rather loudly
Dont spend half an hour choosing colours and then ask your daughters' opinions - unless you want to be sworn at rather loudly
Dont tell your OH that you've been telling him not to bite his nails for the last 20 yrs - unless you want to be sworn at rather loudly

Do, however, thank him lots and tell him what a great job he's done
jaselpool

Hahaha quality stuff Kerry!

They look the business matey! Now you can progress to self-nocks and horn inserts with some purpleheart footings (runs for cover)

Seriously an excellent start there indeed. Didn't I tell you you'd be hooked? lol

Cheers for the comments as well - glad to be of service

Jase
