Targets?

I am off to Lincoln next week for a break(log cabin in the middle of nowhere) & I was just wondering what would be a good target to take with me for practicing. Or, where would be a near practice range, any ideas?
BTS

Have a look on the NFAS website under 'clubs'. There are one or two in Linc's, Woodhall Spa for certain. Bit of a treck from Lincoln, mind you.
There was a target club in lincoln, at one time. See if you can trace one & shoot as a guest.

thanx Bazz, I will get internet surfing.

Can I shoot as a guest even though I am a beginner & don't belong to any club as yet?
BTS

Ooh, dunno.  If you were a member of a club & belonged to NFAS or GNAS, I'm sure you would have no problem. No club or insurance, I'm not sure. I shot as a guest last Saturday, i was ok on that occasion. Mind you i am not a beginner, (beginner as a field archer, though !) nor currently insured or belonging to a club. I think it was a one off. Somebody on here will be much better placed to advise you more accurately.

Keep your eye on this thread.

I can only tell you about NFAS as I don't know about the other organisations.

A beginner or archer from another association is allowed to shoot at a NFAS club as a day member, sort of have a go situation,  NFAS guidelines are that this should only be allowed a couple of times per person.

This only applies to a club or invitation shoot, not at an 'open' (open to all NFAS members) shoot.

Regards a beginner they can shoot a full beginners course as day members, but would be expected to join the NFAS at the end of the course.

A good easy to transport target would be the 'tuff shot' from Merlin,

Its post free if you buy it from Ebay but they usually have them in stock if you need it quickly and can call in.

Thanks for the replies.

I bought a tuff shot target & have to say I am impressed. As well as learning recurve I also have a Barnett crossbow. The tuff shot is the first target that I can use my crossbow on & not damage the bolts. I can actually pull the bolts back out too!

Good te hear that Steve-R, sounds like you are very pleased with it then and it also shows other archers that they are a good target
