Target League - the possibilities<dim question time>
Only being a recurve target type (well I've only been shooting this year) what do all the different bow types actual MEAN. It's all a bit bewildring.
</dim question time>
As for joining the league, I've onlyu shot target, and though I might be interested I'm not sure there's anywhere roound here to shoot anything but target.
I have split this into a seperate topic, so we can discuss the possibilty of trailing the target league again, plese feel free to coment on how best to implement a target league. - Liam

Different bow styles are explained rather well on the NFAS website
We did have a target league in a test format but it was dropped for now as it was decided to put efforts into getting the field league up and running, watch this space though it may return if there is enough interest.
Where abouts are you based? The NFAS website might point you in the direction of a local field archery club.

You have interest from me.
I cannot imagine it will be easy though, considering the range of different shoots target archers can do.

Here's what we tested you can see the rules there, it would be harder to run than the field league and i'm not convinced that the handicapping would be easy/fair, if anyone can come up with a better way of running it im all ears

It looks a good start, I cannot think how to improve it either. with all the different types of tournament it is almost impossible to handicap. I mean it is a lot easier to get a high percentage in a fita 18 than a full fita.

Thats why it was stipulated that you mush shoot 3 short metrics and 2 frostbites throughout the year, you could stipulate all 8 scores submitted are certain rounds but the chosen 8 may not be to everyones liking

why not a league with position based on points. If you shoot above your hadicap you gain 1 2 or three points, below , you lose one two or three (bands to be decided) The clever bit is that your submitted score alters your handicap. this creates a moving target for all based on already agreed critiria. I will think abit more about it and do a bit of spreadsheet modeling to see if it works. And because its a handicap based marking scheme you can shoot what ever rounds you like, though we could specify that summer rounds must be x group and winter rounds y group where x equals rounds with 50 or 60 m and y equals indoor rounds (FITA 18 or Portsmouth)
Not a fully developed idea but a diffrent aproach maybe.
Or...
a ladder... You shoot against the person above you (same round different venue (or the same)) if the lowrperson wins they move up, if they lose no change. This could be handicapped, but because you are shooting a match on the same round the results are less likely to be squewed.
Or...
nah. it's time for the pub

as a confirmed target recurver (hi beardy BTW ! ) the original league proposal there looks OK (the idea of a percentage of possible total seems good at first thought although ive had a long day at work and my brain might be a bit addled)
if you want to try another pilot league then im in

Would be interested to see how the first idea works out beardy, if you could knock something up for us as Im not quite sure how it would work but it sounds interesting all the same
