Target ArrowsOne for you lonbow shooters out there. I have a set of woodies for my longbow that I bought to shoot field with. My bow is 30# at 28" and I draw the full 28. My arrows are spined at 25-30 with parabolic 3" fletches and 80grain points. Will these be ok for target as I'm shooting on Saturday and have no way to get a set before then if these ain't good enough.

Hi there Blackcat. The general starting point is 10lb less than your bow poundage with 125gn points. By using 80 grain points your arrows will act stiffer in spine weight. A reduction to 80gn will probably make your spine more along the lines of 35/40 which is too stiff for a 30lb bow. Also the length of your shafts has a direct affect on the spine. So for instance every inch past 28" you lessen the spine by 5lb and likewise every inch less than 28" makes them stiffer by 5lb. So if your shafts were 30" long you would lessen your spine by 10lb from your 35/40 with the lower weight points making your arrows around 25/30lbs which would be OK for your bow but still a little on the stiff side. I'd be tempted to replace the points with either 100gn or 125gn points to achieve a slightly lower spine and achieve better flight

My arrows are 30" and I draw 28 so they should do then, thank goodness. I sent the bow details to the arrow maker before I bought them and he advised these ones, but as I said they were bought for Field. I will change the points as soon as I can based on your advice but it won't be before my shoot. Or I may just hold off cause I'm looking for a new bow anyway. Thanks for your help and advice.
