Take Down AFBs

Just wondered your opinion on tis.

I was asked at a shoot whether I thought that take down AFBs should be legal in the AFB class within the NFAS.

My response was that I only go to better my score and a good day out so don't really want to get into the politics of it all. I shoot AFB btw

What do you all think

I don't see why not- I've shot a few of the 2 piece bows that come apart in the riser. The only advantage they have over their one piece cousins is that they are easier to transport, especially when travelling by air.

The three piece jobbies that have a riser and separate limbs are probably better confined to H/T, no?

Three piece, I personally would think hunting tackle.  However, a two-piece follownig the design of a carriage longbow, I personally see no reason why it can't compete with the one piece afb.  I cannot see any advantage over the one piece other than transport (and the fact that it doesn't look as nice to people outside the archery world)

The Bowbolt and the Connexion hinge are all but invisible- you have to know what you're looking for to spot them. The Connexion doesn't limit riser geometry, and can be used on deflexed risers (reverse handle AFB's and recurves, for example), but the Bowbolt limits you to a more vertical riser- not a handicap on most AFB's anyway. Ditto for the T-hawk system from 3 Rivers.

Chek-Mate use an oblique cut through the riser with two steel hex screws attaching the halves- neat and solid, but Marc will only do it with a phenolic riser, so no fancy wood in the T/D Crusader riser.

I shoot a 3 piece TD AFB by Kota bows, i use feather fletched allys and happily shoot in the barebow class.
The TD 3 piece has a slight advantage as far as mass weight in the riser, making it a little more stable, but definitely no more accurate.
I have heard rumours that some would like an American hunter class for AFB shooting allys or carbon, i myself have little desire to play the one-upmanship game,  i like what i shoot and i shoot what i like.
That said one piece recurves shoot happily alongside TD recurves in the same class, ergo TD flatbows should get along with one piece flatbows the same.
