Search Forum Users Profile

Hi All,

I am new to Archers Rest and still quite new to Archery.

Please forgive me if this has been asked before - or if I am overlooking the obvious !

I was wondering if it would be possible to do a "Search" of Users Profile.

For example, say I was looking to buy a new bow, and fancied a Samick AFB. It would be useful if I could search through the User Profiles and find someone who uses same. I could then start a new topic with their name in it or PM them to find out their views on Samick AFB's and whether they thought them a good choice for a beginner, for example.

It could also be useful to find others in your area to discuss, say, upcoming shoots or local clubs or whatever.

What do others think of the idea ?

hi pafc1886,
i suspect not,
but it will not stop you starting a thread with a straight question.
Your profile says you have a samick woodsman, are you looking to change?
I have an entry level Ragim Wolf 40lb and just love it. Under £100 but hasn't stopped me putting in some respectable scores.
Plenty of time later to save up for an expensive one, as i am still growing into it, shakes have all but stopped now
and i am not sure what poundage to settle on yet anyway. 40-45-50 ?
I have come to the conclusion tho that it's all about the arrows not the bow not forgetting the archer and
practice, practice, practice.

Samick are abound in the NFAS shoots i attend and held by excellent archers.

Hi corbarwolf,

No - that was just an example of how I thought the facility could be used.

I only just got the Samick after spending months with trainer bows then a borrowed AFB.

I have only been to two shoots, sgooting barebow with the borrowed bow and arrows, but I am looking forward to the next one next weekend.

My wife also shoots, and we have next to face the challenge of making our own wooden arrows. Someone is going to start us off this evening by showing us how it's done.

Should be fun !!

All the best,

Les

Hi pafc

Glad you are enjoying yourself and making your own arrows is very rewarding so don't break them, or least do it slowly.
That samick looks very nice, so get used to it and you'll be shooting like a demon in no time.
Say hi to ian boulton for me, saw him at the scottish champs, he and his wife stepped in to help at the last minute i understand. That's what this game is all about, Friendship.

Have fun

Hi Mark,

Our club practice in the hall was cancelled last night. We went back to Ian and Brenda's and Ian took us through spining and making our first arrows.

It was a good evening. Looking forward to having a go with them later to see how they fly.

Will see Ian later and will say Hi to him for you. We have a corporate day in our woods today so we are off over there shortly to set up targets etc.

Have a good weekend.
