Release Aid QIf you dont already know I'm using a wrist release aid and still learning the compound 'trade', now I know I'm using the 'trigger' wrongly, I am pulling it rather than been suprised when it releases, this is causing inconsistency in my shots, although Im scoring pretty well obviously I want my technique to be as spot on as it can be, any tips on how I can acheive to perfect release, I am going to have a dabble with a thumb release to see if that is easier to get the right sort of release, I'll keep you posted if there any changes.

Will answer you shortly m8, will need to make sure I explain this right. Using a release aid of any type is simple if you know how, explaining it properly is a bit more difficult

Things seem to be improving, I'm getting a lot more 'suprises' when releasing and yes the shots are 100% accurate to the sight when I'm 'suprised' normally a touch to the left when I concuosly (*sp) pull the release.
For some reason everything seemed to drop into place yesterday and I had a cracking round, came away feeling quite pleased with myself, hope I can carry it on into next sundays comp.
Still got a lot of work to do, but I can feel its getting there

Nicely done M8, good to see you are feeling better and able to pick what you are not quite correct and even better that you can rectify the faults.....

i know this is an old thread but here i go>>>>>>>when i first started shooting with a compound i used a release aid. didn't feel comfortable with it especially after i had a rogue release and the arrow flew off..after that i started to get TP in the form of my arm twitched thus making the release aid fire...one of the senior memebrs observed my reactions and came to the TP conclusion. i have returned to using a finger glove and the TP has disappeared. my scores have not suffered really and the feeling of total control outways any minor score differences anyway. infact i did start with a sight but have stopped using that and i shoot better without one..all those years of faffing about with sight markings etc. the only thing i have on my bow is a wrist sling and a short rod. the main thing is i enjoy myself and if i get good scores thats a bonus SP

I drove the local banana-slingers nuts around here when they saw me using gloves on my compound. Actually, it was because I just couldn't get the hang of any mechanical release, period. Problem was that my Switchback was never meant for that, so I couldn't win either way and finally sold it off. One of these days I want to pick something in a long-risered bow, but I'm sticking with traditional equipment for now.
