Question: Do you prefer one or two bows for everything?

Frankly, everybody on this side of the pond is caught up in getting the latest thing or fashion, and I don't see the need outside of specific specialized requirements for a particular branch of the sport. With the ability to change limbs and other equipment, I can see a person not having to do much to participate in a number of sports within general archery. Or am I being exceedingly miserly?

No, Seagolden your right on the mark, i am guilty as charged i love messin with new kit and have several bows. My shooting buddy constantly gives me flack for not stickin to one bow to get the best out of my shooting.
However since getting my GameMaster and changing the limbs for Oly carbons i think i have found my perfect bow, it don't look as cute as my little kota American Longbow but it shoots the socks of it.
In response to your post. Find a bow that fits you and stick with it.
Problem is i wanna try em all just in case.
And my wife's just told me we are movin house, so i'm glad i found the GM.

I know what you mean segolden about the boys on your side of the pond, it is somewhat simialr here in Australia as well, I shoot my curve but have another bow for IFAA, to be honest though the bows all have now shoot heaps more accurate than we can and they are smooth as well I bet, so why buy new

answer - cause can

and I like you Kirk like the new stuff and must fiddle as well......

I always get told by dawn that if it aint broke dont fix it and to be honest i used to be like that trying all different types of things and bows but i setlled with two bows my longbow and my nemesis and now i cant seeing me change unless i could get hold a nishiawa

I have one of those Bushy and it is one sweet shooting machine

I probably would have different bows, just for the play factor, but I can only afford a single bow at a time so that's what I've got

Same problem here Jim, I'd love to have kept my portland 2000 but had to sell it to finance the Merlin

I used to have a recurve but stopped shooting it as I got more and more into my longbow. I'd love many different bows but I know what I'm like I'd never shoot any of them properly! I've only ever shot target but looking into trying field this season. I think I'll be getting a horsebow and stick with just those 2... well that's what I keep telling myself lol!

Hmmm...So what I can tell from this is that cost is an issue, but I also see the factor of mixing and matching certain technologies with other features to get more performance. That's the origin of the "Warf" hybrids, where some are creating a whole new class of traditional bow (even longbows) by combining compound risers with high-performance limbs. I thought perhaps that we'd be in a trend toward a more generalized technology, but it seems to go toward more specialized bows, which I suspect will force the sport to create whole new classes in competition as this hybridization spreads.

sorry u said that u have got a nishiawa recurve they are a beautiful shooting bow and very very fast i have been keeping my eyes open for one for about 4 years but i have never hit on one at the right price but the nemesis is still a nice bow and shoots very well for me at the minute
Robin Hood

i can appericate a nice recurve and the nishiawa is a nice one, but i'm still a longbow man
