Progress MadeIf I'm honest I didnt fancy a trip to Merlin when I got up, it was too cold and windy but I made my self go, had about an hour messing about at different distances in the blowing wind and occasional flurries of snow, the gusts were that bad at times I was waving all over the place and didnt even 'loose' the arrow on a few occasions.
The winds died down a bit so I shot 3 dozen at 30 yards (80cm face) heres the scoring
10 9 9 10 9 9 10 10 8 10 8 8 = 110
10 10 9 9 9 9 10 9 8 9 9 8 = 109
10 9 9 10 9 7 10 9 9 10 10 9 = 111
Total = 330
I'm pleased with that especially considering the conditions
The scores are on the up and as you can see I'm begining to get some consistency

Looking good Liam
Just a thought, with the weather being so bad, it may have made you concentrate more
Sometimes thats all it needs

Funny thing is although the scoring is getting better I was dissapointed with quite a few shots, especially that 7

That's why I don't shoot groups, just one arrow, score and walk back to the line. Think if I had to throw five or so at a time, I'd just get frustrated about the misses. Sure have changed since the old days.

well done Liam. that has to make you feel happy Just for the benefit of the board, (and feel free to moderate me on this) Liam managed a 312 at the same distance when he shot with us, in far far better conditions, so a 1/2 point per arrow improvement is great. What area did you work on to get this improvement?
We finally rolled into Merlin at 4.00, after my relief at work managed to turn in 30 minutes late!! Apparently I cancelled his train to work
at this rate we are not going to get much practise in before Black Sheep on Sunday. And my bow is back in the shop having the centre serving re served.
That is a skill, high in my list to learn, so I can sort my servings at home.

Wish I could've done that well with my last bow, was bloody embarrassing to shoot beside anybody then. Never knew if I was gonna hit my own target or somebody else's. Now you guys have got me curious, think I'll shoot some groups today just to see what happens.
I envy you your job, Ratfighter (sometimes), must be tempting to ruin somebody's day with all that control.

To be honest there is no particular area that ive worked on other than the fact I seem to have automaticly settled on a regular and consistant stance, the string is much closer to my face (it touches now) and the whole thing feels more natural, as you know the next thing I work on will be the stabaliser
P.S still haven't had the scores from when we shot the first time :nudge: :nudge:

Another update, shot a 623 short metric on Tuesday, 297 for the 50yds and 326 for the 30yds, didnt quite hit the 300 that I was aiming for at 50yds, but I'm pleased with that, it was a big jump from my first scoring round, and just wait till I'm stabalised and using a scope, I'll be pushing for 650 before long

Having never done this, I'm completely lost as to how to score a target, so whatever you said sounds good.
