New Pointy things?Right the bow set up is coming together nicely, the new bits are having the desired effect as is the regular practice Ive been having lately, one thing though and una-vita will vouch for this, the arras are doing all sorts of movement in the air and are probably not best suited to the bow with all the recent changes.
Now I have got SFA OnTarget2! but I haven't sussed out how to use it properly yet and I dont trust the easton guides one bit plus the fact I have an urge to try something different anyway, so I'm after a bit of assistance please, could you give me some ideas on which arras to go for.
The bow is currently set at 57lbs but moving up to 60 eventually so this needs bringing into consideration when selecting the spine and my arrow length is 30.5".
I quite fancy going carbon but will stick with ally/carbon if that is what is required.
Arrow is speed also needs to be considered, my bow isnt capable of easily making 300fps so I need all the help I can get with the arrow selection.
Oh and cost is also an area of concern, dont really want to spend much more than what my ACC's are setting me back atm if possible.
Suggestions please

Hi Liam,
For field I personally like the ACC superlite's. Anyway I am guessing at the exact configuration of your bow but using archers advantage that is showing 3-60's as a little stiff and 3-49's as a little weak, reaching about 255 and 260fps respectively
If speed is what you are after then you have a few options:
ace's at 370 spine is showing spot on with 95grns in the point and reaching about 270fps or the Cartel (doo sung) expert (580) spine is showing the same sort of speed.
The fastest options that I can find at a cooking 280fps are the Carbon Express Carbon CWL (250 spine) and the Carbon Tech Cheetah 3D (400 spine).
I can vouch for the quality of the ACE's and the Cartel arrows but have never used the Carbon Express or Carbon Tech arrows which I believe are pure carbon. I personally prefer carbon/ally shafts as they have a metal detector advantage when things go a little awry
So the is a bit of food for thought

Thanks for that, a bit for me to go on, I was thinking Carbon Express may be the way to go, I've had good reports on them and have heard they are a little quicker out of the bow
Dont get me wrong here I'm not a speed freak and have no real desire to shoot at 300 fps, but I would like to be up around the 280-290 mark.
If there is any more info on the bow that anyone needs to give a good acurate judgement form archery software please let me know and I will provide it

Hi Liam
ACC's are not a way of getting speed, a pure carbon will beat a ali-carbon on that every time but they do carry momentum and that's where good grouping lies. The Cheetahs are proving a little (very) fragile. Apparently this is curable by using a long ACC pile but then the FPS drop. Carbon Impacts are robust and reasonably straight but are not overly well matched unless the Orange spots are used and these are not available in theis country (AFAIK). I would certainly recommend Carbon express. CX give durability, providing rotonocks or nock collars are used and the spine match on 3d selects is very good. as an addict of archers advantage and sfa, i'll run the figures for you and get the best match possible. with your draw length I would say that 300 may be just achievable BUT the important factors are FOC and kinetic energy. You can go light say 4.6gr per inch but without the mass they'll float and group badly. If I was you I would take advantage of the poundage, and the draw length to get around 12% FOC 5.2gr per inch and keep aound 285fps. There are so many factors and Ruthy will attest that I spend hours pouring over computer simulations to get the right combination of length weight FOC kinetic energy speed to provide the best compromise.
I would certainly look at the brand spanking new CX Maxima 250 3d selects. They have the nock collars, a stronger "buff tuff" weave, are matched to a grain a dozen with 00012 straightness. I would pair them with pdp points, because you can vary the pointweight and look at quickspin 2.25" fletchings. The CX nocks aren't my favourite, something like a Easton Super is a better bet.
if you like, we can do the measurement, compute rthing and get a good virtual setup for you.

Sounds good to me Ratfighter, I'll be at Merlin Tuesday pm if your about, can confirm set up and explore options I'll leave the number crunching up to you, sounds like you've had plenty of experience

Liam,
Did you get yourself sorted with new arrows? If you did what did you go for and why? if not and you want me to model your bow more accurately for some suggestions then let me know and we can sort something out.

Not done anything yet. Let me know what info you need if you want to play Cilla with me and a shop full of arra's

Ok no problem. I like spending other peoples money
What I need are is the following:
Peak weight of your bow
Bracing height of your bow
Your draw length from the nocking point at full draw to the point at which you measured your bracing height (usually a point perpendicular to the pivot point of the bow)
What type of cams you are shooting
Then what type of arrows you are shooting
The length from nock bed to the end of the shaft
Point weight/type
Nock type
3 or 4 fletch and what type of fletchings (spin wings, plastifletch etc) and length
if you use arrow wrap and how long it is
an indication of how much you have spare over the launcher, just in case trimming a suggested arrow brings it in to spine better for you.
and an idea of what type of arrows you are interested in
all the measurements need to be in inches to the nearest 1/4inch and weights in lbs (naturally)
I am away for a few days so it may take a bit of time to get some suggestions modelled and put together for you.
I hate to say it but I have to cover my ass, I can only make suggestions the final decision will be up to you though

I havnt forgotten about this Jabberwocky, I just havnt shot with anyone yet, its a bit hard to take the measurements myself

No rush, it is a bit tricky trying to measure your actual draw length on your own, unless you are very quick LOL
