Hoyt Gamemaster?

Does anyone here shoot a Hoyt Gamemaster? If so, what do you think of them? I am just new to the sport but think I am going down the 'barebow' route at the moment. I don't really know why, I just enjoy it more I suppose
Is the Hoyt Gamemaster suitable to shoot barebow?

Sorry for all the questions.

i found this review it may help

Quote:
Hoyt Game Master
A unique styled field bow from Hoyt. The GameMaster’s traditional features coupled with Hoyt’s innovative technologies make it the ideal barebow. It’s designed to fit standard sights, rests, quivers and stabilizers or it can easily be shot as a traditional bare bow. The fully radiused shelf allows for total arrow clearance whether shooting with a rest or off the shelf. Comes with layed in string, case, shelf rest and string spiders.

Thanks Ratty!

Would still like to hear from anyone that has shot one though.

My mate has a new one, I shoot it occasionally, I like the feel of the bow, well balanced, very snappy feel on the loose. A good field bow.

Downside I am 6'2 and a midges, so my body desires either a 68" or 70" recurve.
That said If one was going at half the price, I would add to my collection.

from when i shot one i found it very responsive and I am 6 ft and only shoot 66' limbs but it is each to there own I'm afraid its whatever suits you but they are a good field bow think it might be Kirk who has got one thinking about it I think he entered a picture of himself shooting it into last months competition????

Thanks for the input so far peeps. Much appreciated.

Gumbob.
Get one, i have had many bows from Olympic recurve to custom wood riser bows costing three times as much as a Gamemaster, and none of them shot as sweet and with as much authority as the GM.
The throat of the grip is small and forgiving against torque and is as shock free as your going to get.
I have a set of carbon limbs that i converted making the bow even sweeter to shoot and draw, The converted limbs are Hoyt's carbon plus, giving me 64" 43# @27".

That said the stock limbs are good performers out of the box.
The GM also has the facility to adjust the tracking of the string via a small cam limb pin.

You can shoot off the shelf, or with a button and rest, if your going barebow use a button and flipper rest. Another good point about the GM is the button hole is low, a good thing when shooting instinctive. Get your hand high in the grip and split fingers it's almost like shooting off the shelf, without clearance problems.

If you new to the sport, don't go for a gut wrencher, get a 40# . You can get after-market limbs ready converted from the USA, or you could do it yourself, when you want to shoot heavier limbs, personally i think 45# is all you need for field. The worst thing you can do is to overbow yourself.

A well tuned GM at 45# with a set of Redline Carbons is a dream combo.

Kirk,
Thanks very much for the reply. I am still doing a beginners course at a local club and wanted a bow that would be ok for target but could still be used barebow as I enjoy that more just now. The GM seams to fit the bill.
I have quite a long draw at around 29 1/2, so I think 40# would be more than enough for me to handle .

If there anything else I should know before buying one please let me know.

Many thanks.....Gumbob

Go for it Gumbob, you won't be disappointed, another point if your shooting target you can shim the bottom limb to set the tiller, i haven't done this myself as i shoot split fingers, but i know of people in the states who have done this to shoot 3 under.

OH and it'll take a sight too

One things for sure you'll turn heads on the target line when your hitting the gold with your little hunting bow

As this the same as 'mediteranian'?

And!! I dunno about hitting any golds (I've had a couple of lucky ones so far mind )

Thanks again...Gumbob

'Mediterranean'. That's the one. I have shot three under in the past but it just don't feel right, i shoot med and cant the bow a little to miss my hooter. Works for me.
