Do you mean everything was working and you were sure that was wrong so you fiddled until it no longer worked and normal service was resumed

Seems like a bit of a issue with merlin bows (if that is what you are still shooting).
Mark Franklin had a similar issue over the weekend at the UK Masters with his XS. Every couple of ends he was using a hammer to tap the cable guide back home as it kept vibrating out and breaking up his groups. Saying that he still managed to shoot a 1385 FITA !!!!
It would be interesting to know if there are any other merlin shooters how have experienced the same thing.

Yes it's a Merlin, and I too would be interested to hear if any other folk have had this problem with a Merlin............or anything else

I know of quite a few people that shoot merlin bows and this is the first time that I have really heard of this problem, just strange that two people have had the problem at the same time. Merlin bows are usually very reliable. The only thing that I can think of is: was it the heat over the weekend softening the glue that they use to mount on the sliders?

Hmmm, never heard of this particular problem, though I've seen some guides break. Glad I'm getting a Phoenix, no cable guides or guards to worry about, straight shoot-through system with no pulley timing or lean to compensate for. I know, I'll shut up.

segolden, I hate to mention this, but you will still have cables that may break

Oh yeah, and with my klutziness, I'll probably cut the things with a broadhead, too.

Nah you will right I know you will be careful
I have a mate that has a Max 3000 and his cable guard has come out as well, on my XT I have had no problems touch wood (should pat my head I might get splinters)

My good Lady shoots Max 2000, no slide... shoot through. The only problem there is that the yolks tend to catch on the cables, but that is perhaps no big issue, as long as things are kept under observation. The yolks have been covered (by Ben, or was it Chris?) & this has reduced the wear on the cables.

Had a brief problem with this until I loctited it in place, nothing since. As with most engineered items, things need checking from time to time, the secret is knowing when it's time to check them. I give a cursory check of most moveables before each end, or each shot on a field round. All the bolts, and moveable parts have been marked for alignment and it's literally takes 2 seconds to check. i have given too many points away in the past by assuming everything is ok, when a 2 second glance would prove they were.
