Tolkin Lord of the Rings is a classic I have 16 books about  Middle Earth.I have a first edition that belonged to my father. He read it to me when I was a kid, and I read it to my son and my grandson. The books are at a book binder to be Leather bound and will be pride of place in my book shelf.

First edition Hobbit, or Fellowship, Fred?    I'd give my right arm... probably my left as well!  Bit of a bookworm at heart!  Guessing the others you have are the Christopher Tolkien twelve volume history of Middle Earth (I had some difficulty in tracking down number nine, but it was worth it, they look great on the bookcase)

Great collection there Fred!

Does the Silmarillion still have its map?
fred

Yes and the Hobbit

I've got a silmarillion with the removable map, but I've never seen an original Hobbit one, tracked one down a few years back that was literally falling to bits that still had the envelope for the map, but no map.  Restored it fairly nicely, but it's still missing the map.  One day I'll find one!

Sounds like you've got a good bookshelf there, I'm extremely impressed!

If you watch Lord of the Rings it shows one I have five maps hand made by an artist friend of my son they are on parchment and draw and written with a quill and hand made ink. When I POP MY CLOGS EVERYTHING GOSE TO MY GRANDSON, he love me to read the stories and look a the maps.

Well, I hope it's a long while before he inherits, as I'm sure you do too

Didn't realise the one Frodo has in the film was an original, I stand corrected then, I have seen one... now just need to track one down.  Again, that's not too difficult, Sotherby's tend to have something every couple of years, it's just tracking one down that I wouldn't have to sell my soul to buy!  Although as a fairly avid collector of books, I've always enjoyed the search as much as actually finding something!
fred

In my front upstairs room I have one complete wall covered with books.and have two book shelves down stairs and Five cardboxes full no more room in my old house had a study that was full of books you could say I am a but of a nut about books.

Addictive isn't it?  My parents still have five full bookcases of mine that simply won't fit in my house since I moved out.
fred

Yep know how you feel
