Hello, I'm a beginner and new to the forums

Hi everyone,

I am a beginner archer and also new to these forums. I have just enrolled onto a beginners archery course to start in a few days with my partner and we hope to get to grips with this sport and enjoy it! My partner shoots longbow/re-enactor self bow with wooden arrows and is about to learn on a recurve (should be interesting) and I have just started shooting on a recurve bow with aluminium arrows. We hope to learn a good technique but are not particularly interested in winning any competitions, just to enjoy a hobby together.

Thanks.

Hi Sunmouse, best of luck for taking up archery.  Anything you need to know, I'm sure someone on here will be able to answer or point you in the right  direction.  And don't be too hasty to rule out the competitions, even if you're not shooting to win the gold, they're a great day out (both field and target) and are something you should try at least once.

Adam.

G'day sunmouse and welcome to you and your partner to Archers Rest, have a great time and thanks for letting us all know a little about you

Re: Welcome to sunmouse - note for Fred

Hi and thanks to everyone for the warm welcome.  Sunmouse is actually two entities - Michelle and Phil - I hope that's OK with the forum - if not we'll register a second ID.  This is Phil - the longbow afficianado writing now.  It's great to see such an active and friendly conversation.  Fred - thanks for your offer - perhaps I can find you at the medieval event you mentioned - I am having some difficulty finding the best kind of arrows and it would be good to talk to someone with more knowledge than me.  Where is the event in August - there is usually something at Cosmeston medieval village which we usually attend - can you let us know and we'll try to find you.  If it is Cosmeston then look out for us at the Stagman tent.

All the best,
Phil

Fred... thought we'd all agreed to wait for new folks to make at least twenty posts before you mentioned your cod piece and 'hose'?!?

Thats fine by me, might get confusing at times tho    If you want to enter our archery leagues at any time in the future you'll need seperate id's.
