finger release advice.

I have started to increase the amount of shooting I am doing  by a large amount recently owing to the fact I can now shoot on a field whenever I want. I use mediterranean loose on a AFB. I have started to get sore patches on the underside of my index finger and my fourth finger. Underside as in facing the floor when I draw if you see what I mean.

Is this something that you get and eventually they will callous up and I will not notice them, or is there anything I can be doing wrong that would be causing it. I get them both with glove and tab, although the glove gives a little more protection.

Thanks in advance

Mike.

ring finger not fourth finger, well they might be the same thing but ring finger is easier to know where i mean, i think

Thanks for clearing up which finger you mean, it does help

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong with this but I believe -

You should be taking most of the pressure with your middle finger (tallest one) its something like around 60% middle finger 35% ring finger and just 5%  on your index finger, this allows your string to draw into a V where your arrow nock is, hope that makes sense

If you use either glove of tab try putting a plaster around your finger joints first, (not too tightly though) it does give you a lot more protection from sore fingers

Hope this helps a bit

Nice one Dawn  Glad to hear others have trouble with draw fingers, not just me. I mean that in a none malicious way, of course. I probably do have 5% on my 3rd finger. Never had bunions etc.. form on them, though?
Would a shooting glove help him? Dont know myself, always used tabs eg.. platform, none platform etc.. I used to glue acrylic blocks & all sorts on them, trying to gain a better sight mark at 100 yds etc..

Thanks dawn i will just tape the edge of my fingers up if it gets too bad. It will harden i expect after a while.

BTS  " I get them both with glove and tab, although the glove gives a little more protection." no help but thanks anyway
