Favorite Arrow?Considering the requirements for certain arrows in formal competition, traditions in the woodbow culture, and sheer practicality, what is your favorite style of arrow for your pet bow, and the reasons why? Yeah, I'm picking brains today, as I'm looking at one of Fred's bows.

Segolden - my pet bow is a 68" Blackbrook Zeta AFB (longbow to you ) 45@27" - My prefered arrows are 5/16 POC shafts 40-45 Spine 28" long, with a 100 grain point and 4" shield fletchings. I only ever shoot field these days and they do me fine. (is this what you were after??)

Never gonna live that one down, am I? You hit my specs dead on, Haywain, though I'm not sure if I'm going to order something lighter this time or not. Trying to get a consensus I guess. Like that robot in the movies kept saying, "INPUT-INPUT-INPUT...".

Although i consider myself a trad shooter, i'm not a purist.
I shoot my Kota flatbow with 1916 Easton xx75 camo, 5 inch red helical fletching and conventional nocks. I also use the Med release, so this puts me in the barebow class.
I love wooden arrows, love making them and there is nothing finer than a set of well crafted wooden arrows, i just shoot alloys for there light weight, consistent performance and durability.
I'm even going down the road of getting some Easton Legacy wood grain pattern shafts, they look super cool and have all i like about alloys.

For my bow, 115lb self yew EWB I have several types of arrow.
Display arrows, rarely shot this one weighs 86grams, 32" long shaft, bobtailed from 1/2" to 3/8". Fletches are 7 1/2" long at the base and the trailing edge is natural, cut from Peacock primaries and bound with linen thread. The nock is reenforced with horn and the head is hand forged a polished so you can see you mush in it. I make all my arrows bu tnot the heads, this one was made for me by my friend John Marshall.
I'll post some images of my everday arrows later.

They are 13/32 poplar with drop forged heads (I aint payin 20 quid a point, not the way I loose 'em) and horn re-enforced nocks.
I'm also in the middle of makin some war arrras, 1/2" shafts. I'll try and post pic's when I get a chance.

Hi all
My faveret bow is my Italian self yew bow 90@30 and very fast...
I normaly shoot 1/2 inch bobtailed to 3/8 at the nock end with 7 inch
fletchings and tudor or bodkin heads. But I love shooting The Poacher which is a Devises swollow tail head the complete arrow is about 80grams don't go very far though Nice to see your arra's on here jb & Nick very nice...

Nice one Lin, post some pic's mate.
Here's a couple'a three from the new batch.
The red and white fletched ones have 7.5" fletches and are 78g, 1/2" poplar shafts. The white with blue binding has 8.5 fletches and was made for the John Holder challenge
http://www.pickwicks.org.uk/Announcements.htm
but at only 63g, came up too light to use but there are others in the batch that will come in at the right weight. All are bobtailed down to 3/8" over the last 12"
Btw I left one of the little arras in to show size comparison.
I've only shot the 1/2" arras from my smaller bow (60lb @ 28") and they only reached about 110-120 yds
