Day oneJust thought i would pop on and share some on my experiances with the first evening shooting with my new bow.
Have to say it was an absolute pleasure to be shooting with a bow that is mine and mine alone, even though it is much heavier than the club bow I have been using.
First time up feeling enthusiastic and a little bit cocky and my first arrow goes well to the right of my target (it hit the target next to mine). Hmmm thinks I, I must have done something wrong. The next 2 arrows do exactly the same.....good grouping wrong target
So some rapid adjustment of the sight and the next 6 arrows hit my target but still very much to the right.
More adjustment of the sight and some helpful advice from the club members, adjusting my stance, shoulders and keeping my back straight and the arrows come even more towards centre.
After another 3 or 4 rounds and my arrows are all still going to the right despite the good advice from the club members, not sure if it is all down to me or what but the sight has been adjusted about as far as it will go. My guess is it is more about my form than the equipment I am using Think i have a lot more to work on but in all it was still a fun experiance!
A couple of the guys suggested I try a pressure button next time out and possibly a wrist sling thingy to try and reduce the "death grip" I have a habit of using on my bow hand.
So much to remember!
I did manage to get one gold so the ego is not totally deflated. After 1.5 hours shooting i have aches in muscles i didnt know I had but have still managed to keep the smile on my face. Hopefully with a few more sessions I will start to see some improvement.
I cant wait untill friday!

gemms, great to see you had a great time and that the smile is still firmly etched on your face. There is is nothing better than shooting your own equipment after a beginners course, there is always something to remember about our from and I normally remember after I have shot the arrow You continue to have a great time shooting because fun and enjoyment is the name of the game

Great news Gemms
It will take time so don't expect to get eveything right straight away
As long as you keep smiling just try to concentrate on sorting one thing at a time
Looking forward to your next report

Chin up, don't expect to be perfect in one day, after all if it was easy it wouldn't be fun.
BTW if your arrows are too weak in spine you would get the symptoms you are describing, but it is probably too early to be blaming kit.
The death grip won't help as the tighter you grip the more of a kick you will introduce into the bow.

Yeh I definately will be working on the grip
Decided as a bit of an incentive i will allow myself a pint of real Ale for every gold I get. That should keep me motivated
