With just a few days before BlackSheep, Who's going?
Una-Vita and myself will be there.
Black Sheep are a fun bunch of guys and always put on the kind of shoot that THEY would want to shoot.
mind you I shot a Ford Fiesta at their shoot last year< hopefully they haven't brought any car based targets to their new wood!

Shoot report

Just a quick one to give a report on events at Black Sheep yesterday.
Before I start a BIG thank you to Binny and the Black Sheep team. A very interesting day's shooting was provided and apparently it was the first attempt by the course layers so well done for a very accomplished piece of course laying.
The scores for the day were on the low side, whether that is because paper faces are becoming a lost art or whether the shots were deceptive is open for debate. None of the targets were stretched, maybe some of the faces were a bit small for the distance. There were no stupid shots, everything seemed safe and the woodland is thin enough to provide good light whilst providing enough obstacles to be a challenge. There are also a number of natural features which could be put to good use at future shoots, lagoons, streams, upturned trees etc.
the numbering and directions were a little hard to follow in the middle of the course but were far more obvious further round. On the whole, given the recent weather, the conditions underfoot were reasonable, although the track had been 4x4'd and was a little more treacherous.

My opinion was that Black Sheep found a nice balance of shots, my sight did not cross the 60yd point, the shortest shot was a particularly nasty Jay in a ditch, everything else slotted in between. I would certainly recommend a trip over to Market Rasen for I am sure that these guys have more to give.

In summary, this shoot had a good "old fashioned, how the NFAS use to be" feel to it and I liked that. The admin was well organised and fuss free, the catering was good and the raffle money was donated to the "Bright Sparks" appeal, which was a very kind and appreciated gesture ( I hope more follow suit this year).
In all Black Sheep get a Ratty 4 stars and comes highly recommended
