Back to the start

After 2 years of shooting compound limited with my Merlin Max 3000, I have sold it and gone back to where it all started for me ..an American Flat Bow.
I enjoyed shooting compound and did quite well, picking a few medals and trophies up, but I became bored with the "point and shoot" routine and so decided it was time for a new challenge.
I have bought myself a Griffon GL AFB from Border Archery in Scotland, a lovely looking and shooting bow, fast with no hand shock, but...my scores have halved!!
Never mind, I enjoy the whole traditional thing including making my own arrows and to hit a 3D at 65 yards with my first shot with my new bow is a lovely rewarding feeling.
Unlike some people I dont see a divide between compound and traditional archery, we are all there to enjoy the sport and the day so keep posting your pictures and stories of compounds and may all your arrows fly true.

One shot ..One kill.

Mik hope you enjoy your AFB (I'm sure you will) We all have our reasons for shooting what we do, but at the end of the day we all fling arrows so its all good stuff

I packed it in early this year with compounds, not because it became boring, but because it was bloody frustrating constantly fiddling with this or that and yet watching it all go out of tune again. Going to a recurve got me back to basics, and now I'm ready to tackle a different rig, a Monster Bows Phoenix. No gears, wheels or weird mechanisms to go out of whack. I like your attitude, though, as we're all in this boat together when the arrow smacks the target. Wish more people had that perspective!
