Avalon's EXTREME ShootThought you might like to see a couple of photos from this weekends Avalon shoot called the EXTREME (Tony Weston - Course designer)
It was different, it was Extreme, it was FUNNNN!!!!!
The idea was based around ethical kills, whereby a wound is BAD!
Which is why on the first arrow the normal 24 inner kill was scored 10,
the kill 20 was scored as 8 and the wound 16 was -5.
Second arrow was scored kill 5 and wound -5.
So if you hit the bum on your first arrow and again on your second on the first target you were off to a flying start of -10.
This image was Predator and prey, no hit to the prey no go on the croc. (25yardsish)
This was great to see! (How many Deer?)
This first pig was new and then put into the raffle....courtesy of The Archery Company (Sponsors)
This was an easy 80 Yard across a dip to 4 Bears on the other side...can you see them?
we could only see 3......until we went around the corner to the white peg and found big daddy grizzly hiding.........clever
All i can say is SUPERB and it has to be an made into an annual shoot.
Thanks!!
Mark and Zoe
p.s. Liam i think i have put it into the wrong forum group could you move it for me pls?

Nice setup; have a hard time doing that around here however. Too many snakebites, cactus needles and mesquite thorns

Stop looking and start finding somewhere to have a go Mjollnir, listen to the voices Mj "Do it, Do it, Do it"

Might be a good excuse to get a second bow, something traditional maybe.

Mjollnir, there is a class for your normal recurve target bow, you don't need another. Both ferret and I shoot our normal target bows in NFAS Freestyle and IFAA/EFAA Freestyle Recurve.

But would I not have to shoot sightless, or are sights allowed.
excuse my ignorance.
|
Selwoc
|
You can use sights in freestyle. My bow is set up exactly the same as a target bow, sight, stabilizer etc.
Have a look at the NFAS shooting styles on their web board http://www.nfas.net/nfas_styles.asp?style=all

So the only thing you have to guess is the range?
besides it would be good to have an excuse for a second bow
Cheers for the link

That's about it, easy

You could have a second bow set up just for field using different arrows (to save your expensive X10s)
sorry, we seem to have hijacked your thread corbarwolf

I wish I could afford X10s lol, nah just NAV FMJs.
I love em, only got them this year. I am so used to shooting Alleys the size of tree trunks, they are tiny in comparison, and they hit with such force, that on a 20m target they stick their heads out the other side of a brand new foam target.
but yes using the Cobalts for field might be best, the bright blue arrows are easier to find in the undergrowth

Ooooh I am looking forward to shooting at Avalon for the first time later this month
And yes, I shoot FS for field like Selwoc and Ferret, no change from my target set-up except for the arrows
You might need 2 buttons of you shoot allys and carbons, otherwise one will do!
As for cobalts, well, mine weren't any easier to see, but they did seem to have a geat attraction to trees
Now I've got plats with very bright fletchings which seem to find the target a bit better

Hey that's fine Selwoc, good to see any chat.
As for seeing arrows POOKA (platinum xx75's) and i (wooden things) love the tracers...(see photos)...my eyes aren't what they used to be sonny!

Mjollnir Forget the Sights (cant believe I just said the word) move away from the dark side and come back to the light of barebow far better lol (when it goes right) looks like a crackign shoot though

Ha Ha Ha but I like the darkside, we have cookies

well use it as an excuse to get another bow then of course you dont want to upset ur target set up so will just have to set up another one lol such a shame thats what I said when I keep bringing home bows
