Tis a good site and has potential, but not my fave cup off tea at the moment as I submitted the AR birthday shoot and they have chosen not to advertise it..............wonder why ????????????
And yes I am registered on it as I advertise my clubs shoots on there and have never had a problem getting my submissions approved.

That does sounds a might strange, as you are not exactly direct competition. This site is more about the fourm, ok it has a little used events section. Their site is more about local clubs and events. Do not see why they can't be friends

They have a relationship with another archery forum.

I didn't realise that. I'm the Black Arrow representative on Archery Organiser, maybe they only allow shoots to be registered by the hosting clubs rep? (trying to give them the benefit of the doubt )

There is no bias on archeryOrganiser. Because this is a *members only* event, it does not show up in general searches, but the event IS there. You can find all members only events on the page of the club hosting the event.
http://www.archeryorganiser.com/events-view.asp?event_id=643
Also please note that every event is proof read before it is *live*, so you may not see your event in a search until it has been verified by the administrators.
Hope you have a good shoot
|
Mjollnir
|
Well I think you got your answer
|
Liam
|
That explains all the shoot was submitted over a week ago and I expected a delay in it going live as per instructions.
Wasnt aware it was advertised as as a members only shoot, i presumed that as it was posted as an open shoot it would not be classed as *members only* or was that done, due to the fact it states that AR members only?
Apologies if you felt it was pop at archery organiser.
Are you involved with the running of said site at all clickerati?

Oh dear Liam, it's humble pie time
Anthony from AO has just joined as well

I'll always admit to a mistake Jim

|
Would be nice to see an answer to the above question
And given AO's association with AIUK I would totaly understand if our shoot wasn't advertised at all, if im honest I wasnt expecting it to get through their 'moderation'
I would have liked some kind of association with AO infact I did make an approach in the early days, but again given the aforementioned association I understand why this may not be a workable situation.
As I said originally AO is a good site and has potential to become a very big thing.

Hi All,
Anthony from archeryOrganiser.com here.
Sorry about the confusion. I do personally review each new event before going live, but that's merely to make sure that all the necessary info has been added (and to do a quick proof-read).
I have changed your event to an "open event" which means that it'll appear on all the event searches. The event should still have appeared under the Black Arrow Field Archery Club.
archeryOrganiser is still very young, so there's plenty of room for improvement and I really value any feedback I can get. If anybody has any problems, questions or suggestions please don't hesitate to contact me. There is even a live chat feature on the website which will show you when I'm available to chat.
Thanks,
Anthony

Yes, if an event is *members only*, there is a box that is ticked, which in essence takes it out of the general search.

I recently took over the creative and public relations role.

|
But if an event is ticked *members only* surely it cant be advertised as an open shoot ?
Not being picky here just pointing out something that in my opinion may be benificial to clarify.

Hi Liam,
You've made a good point. Based on the feedback from this thread I'm going to change the behaviour of *members only* events so that they appear in general searches.
Let me know if that would clear things up for you.
Thanks,
Anthony

Liam

Anthony,
I dont think memebrs only shoots need to be advertised on all shoots searches, infact some organisers may not wish their shoot to shown to 'public'
I just wanted to point out that if 'open shoot' is selected then how could it be a 'members only shoot'
I'm looking at this from an NFAS prospective, not sure how other associations work.

Ok, I think understand your question now Liam
It's not actually possible to choose "open shoot" and "members only" at the same time. When you first create your event, you must choose *one* of the following shoot types.
*Club Members Only (Currently restricted from public searches, events can only be seen on the club's page)
*Open Shoot
*Friendly
*UK Record Status
*World Record Status
If anybody has any suggestions to add/change this list I'd be all ears.
Thanks,
Anthony

How come our "open shoot" didnt show up on the search then?
I think the list is fine as it is................we'll I cant think of any other options, maybe others will (this lot keeps you on your toes Anthony )

Hi Liam,
Your event didn't appear in searches because you created it as a "Members only" shoot. "Members only" events can only be seen by going directly to page of the club that is hosting the event. (I'll put a note on archeryOrganiser to make this clearer)
You could only find this event if you knew which club was hosting it. In this case the event was being hosted by Black Arrows, which might not be obvious to everyone, so I came to the conclusion that it would be better if your event was an "Open shoot" to allow more people to find it in the searches.
I then changed the event type from "Members only" to "Open shoot" on your behalf and the even now appears in general searches. You are more than welcome to change it back if you feel this is not appropriate.
I hope that clears things up.
Cheers,
Anthony

Hi S1eepless,
It's up to clubs to add their details onto archeryOrganiser and we already have about 1/4 of UK clubs listed.
If you know of a club that is not listed please let them know about archeryOrganiser and encourage them to sign up.
Thanks,
Anthony

Curious, the paranoia that instantly assumes that because your shoot didn't show, I means they must be 'against' you...and it was your cock-up all the time...hmm.
|
Liam

I wouldnt say it was a total cock up, there was some confusion over how ads were categorized in the fact that it was advertised as an open shoot but didnt show on the general search, seemed a little suspicious at the time

There is no need for any suspicion with archeryOrganiser.com. We do not partner with anyone to the exclusion of anyone else. The whole purpose behind aO is to bring archery to as many people as possible. In the beginning, GNAS clubs welcomed us with open arms, while many NFAS clubs treated us with suspicion. We didn't exclude NFAS clubs because of that.
No, what we want to do is give all aspects of UK archery a common portal in which to reach the masses. Somewhere clubs can list their contact details and then post entry forms, bookings, target lists, results, photos, shoot reports, etc. A one-stop shop to make joining and participating in archery a breeze, as it were.
We want UK archery to grow, but archeryOrganiser.com is also growing and learning. We are in our infancy and are open to any suggestions and comments that will help make aO even better.
|
Liam
|
Well put clickerati
aO is a fine idea and im sure in time it will become a very usefull tool to experienced and new archers alike.
I believe there is good reason why some NFAS clubs were cautious at first which I shall not discuss on here, once that 'issue' was sorted I believe many have jumped on board, I myself have listed LEFA on aO and advertised its shoot on there.
Keep up the good work aO

I have advised our club that our next Open is now published on aO. Two replies were received in response. Stating that it was a very professional looking site. I have to agree. Even I can enter facts about a shoot without getting lost...& that's saying something.
I have asked our webmaster to put in a link to aO.
He will get around to it eventually, as all archery & archery related things have had to take a back seat due to various commitments.

Thanks cliveanne. We rely on archers and clubs spreading the word and adding new information to keep archeryOrganiser.com progressing. It's good to know you find the site easy to navigate and the kind comments are much appreciated.
