Alaska experiment The TV showHave you seen "Alaska experiment" on Discovery. If so what do you think of the effort put in by the teams?
To me it seems as if none of them can do a days work. It may be the way the show is shot, but OMG.
Mucking around cooking & canning in the day light ... 2 & 3 people doing a one man job. At times it is hard to watch. They have been there for weeks now & there is hardly enough split wood to last the month out.

Don't have it personally (some here might though, through satellite or cable) but I can imagine the kind of thing you mean. We've had similar shows here, if I was stuck in a situation with most of them I think I'd have to head off on my own and sod the rest

I haven't seen the show as yet, but I haven't watched any T.V.
lately... I do recall some years back watching a program on PBS
about three families trying to make it in Montana with an 1880's
setting. They failed IMHO misserably.
I personally feel that most of todays world would fail at such an
undertaking. Some would be alright and some are probably right
here on Archers Rest, but for the most part - the majority would
fail IMHO... We've become to soft with all the technology in todays
world.
Maybe that's why I like doing the Mountain Man Rendezvous, and
camping out year round, and putting up meat in the winter. It gets
a person back to nature and allows you to find out just what you can
do when you want to or need to if the time ever comes, along with
keeping your outdoor survivial skills sharp.
I wouldn't make for a good documentry, I already know how to
survive the wilderness...

I haven't seen it or heard of it until now... but I fear it would make me angry!
My current favourite discovery show is the latest season of Deadliest catch... now those guys know how to work... "47 hours awake on deck as made the deck hands sluggish, so sue brings them coffee to help them through the next seventeen hours. Captain John is a little concerned about having his wife on deck in such heavy seas."

Sounds just like "The Apprentice" on British TV & some of the candidates on there! Somebody needs to say to them "You are Lightweights, your fired!".
Sir Alan Sugar would do nicely

My wife's father came from Norway, so my wife never misses the show. I'm a mover I have worked 34 hour days. After watching the show my wife looks at me like I'm a bum or something. Not even the fact that I lobster trapped as a teen gets me any where. "The crew of The Northwestern were in 30 foot seas. Did you ever fish in 30 foot seas?"
At least my dogs think I'm a god......I can get the tin open
Post script: If it's on time {knock on wood} I have 4-5 weeks left till my first AFB arrives.
