some good news... after surgery 2day, Edward has managed to save Both of his knees, only needing Below knee amputations so far your messages do mean a lot to all of us, keep my little one in your prayers. Thanx Steve & Clare X
Just let the good news keep coming |
| Dawn wrote: | Just thought I would give you the update on this
On last nights East midlands News, there was an article about little Edward, I think he is in Birmingham hospital now, he has lost both his legs ang both his arms from the elbow.
He was in his hospital bed and talking with his family, so brave.
Claire was saying how lucky they were to have noticed the illness because he had no sypmtoms other than the spots, because his brother had had it a few weeks before and recoved they knew what it was and acted straight away, if they hadn't they may have lost him.
Aparently its a very rare form of meningitis that is not even vaccinated against.
Steve was saying how much they are looking forward to getting him home, and they will overcome all the problems.
They are all very brave and with such a positive attitude.
There will be hard times ahead but I am sure we all wish them well and will keep them in our thoughts and prayers.
Good wishes to them all and if anyone hears more please keep us updated. |

I thought you would like to know what is being arranged
As those who have read the web board know of the recent tradegy of Edward Bright aged 7, we lost our son nearly 15 years ago aged 13 to Meningitus and Edward's plight really tugged at my heart and I felt I had to do something to help with his rehabilitation and his future. After speaking to my family and the blessing of Edward's family I decided to put on a shoot to raise funds. On talking to Hanson Bowmen at the weekend they have agreed to let me use their new ground and give me all the help and support I need, for which I can't thank them enough.
But I cannot do this without you!!! the shoot is now booked for August 12th, and I am asking for as many of the members to attend as possible, if you cannot come then maybe you would consider sending your entry of £5.00 as a donation.
I have lots of ideas to raise funds, but if you can do anything else to help please give me a call on the phone number under NFAS president in the newsletter, we are going to call ourselves for this one event only "Bright Sparks" more info later

| una-vita wrote: | Hello there all you good people of archery
We now have a team heading the organisation of Edward's fund raising event's.
It consists of :-
Terry and Harry Boyce
Sam Gascoigne
Liz Holmes
Trevor Borrington
Dave McHaffie
and myself Ruth Lochlea
Each person will have a specific job to do and as soon as this has been finalised I will post that information.
My job is to see that we are not contacting companies, organisations or going over the same ground etc. twice. (we want to do this properly)
I have already been in contact with several companies in which i am awaiting responses.
If anyone has been in touch with companies or wishes to etc. if you can give me the details I will file all the information and then this will be available for anyone in the future who is thinking of writing or contacting anyone we want to make sure that each company gets only 1 hit and we're not wasting valuable time contacting the same places therefore getting as much for Edward as physically possible.
Also any raffle prize donations I will also be taking charge of until the event they can be either posted or handed to me at a shoot.
So peep's let's dig deep and get this moving for Edward and his family
Thank you all in advance

| una-vita wrote: | Hi Liam
I have a letter that i'm sending to all companies that i can think of here in Burton i have copied and pasted it for you.
Feel free to adjust accordingly for you needs on the website. I've kept i quite short simply not to bore people with all the details so we have a better chance of the letter not reaching the waste paper bin!
My name is Ruth Lochlea and I am part of a team called the Bright Sparks.
We are on a mission to raise funds for a little boy called Edward Bright who very recently contracted meningitis.
7 year old Edward was, until this terrible disease, a fit and healthy little boy.
Edward now has sadly lost both his arms to his elbows and both his legs to his knees. He is currently still being cared for in hospital in a burns unit as his skin has been affected by this disease. He is however on the road to recovery and in good spirits for a 7 year old. He is an extremely brave little boy and his family are very positive about his future.
Edward and his father are involved within the sport of archery. This is how the ‘Bright Sparks’ team know about little Edward and his family.
We, the ‘Bright Sparks’ team are in the process of organising an Archery competition on August 12th of this year to raise funds for Edward’s future care. During the event in August there will also be a prize draw and also there will be other events taking place leading up to this archery competition.
As you can understand this is a very difficult time for Edward, his brother and his family so we are asking you to give a donation towards the prize draw in August. Just to give you an idea of the prizes donated so far we have a promise of some archery equipment form our local archery shops with values ranging from £20 - £200 we have some toys and games kindly donated from the local supermarket with values ranging from £10 - £25 and are awaiting responses from other companies we have written to.
Please could you help our little friend Edward Bright to bring a better future for him and his family.
On behalf of Edward and his family we the Bright Sparks team would like to thank you in advance for anything you can do to help.
Kindest Regards
Ruth Lochlea and the Bright Sparks team. |
As you can see a lot of effort is going into this very worthy cause, if you feel you can help in away please feel free to contact una-vita, Who me, Dawn or myself via email or pm.
If you anything you can donate to the raffle please pm una-vita for further details or if you have any second hand items for the Jumble sale please pm me for details.
Thank you
Liam & The Bright Sparks team

Thanks Liam for getting this information together here
I think most of the details are covered but if anyone want to know any more please ask either here or pm one of the team
This is a copy of a message left on the NFAS website last week from Edwards dad (laughing assasin)
Hiya all, have just returned home from Birmingham for a night.Edward is continuing to improve and is looking forward very much to attending the Bright Sparks shoot, saying he would like to shoot it himself...... my family and myself can't thank everyone enough for what they are doing for Edward and the messages you have left over the past few weeks. Just to let you know that some of the money raised will be buying 'Super Ted' one of his wishes- a custom cross bow so he can still shoot round the woods we will of course be attending the shoot ourselves and look forward to meeting and thanking you all in person. Thanks again to Hanson, Harry & Terri and everyone else and I will see some of you on Sunday at Shipley Outlaws. Steve, Clare & Edward X

Well found Jim, thank you
There are several links there including one to the Edward Bright Appeal, it looks like there may be updates on his progress on there.

Latest news from the Derbyshire Evening Telegraph here
| Quote: | BOY WHO LOST ARMS AND LEGS TO MENINGITIS GOES HOME
A seven-year-old boy who lost parts of his arms and legs to meningitis was today due to return home for the first time.
Edward Bright, who almost died after contracting the deadly bug, has spent the last seven weeks in hospital.
But yesterday, medical experts at Birmingham's Children's Hospital, where Edward has stayed for more than three weeks, said that he could go home for a few precious hours. |
I don't think it's been mentioned here, there's also a website that's been set-up to give information on Edward's progress and to accept donations; http://www.edwardbright.com/

I'm putting the site up at several forums over here, just to make sure the story gets out a little further. Hopefully, that will throw a few more shekels in the pot if nothing else.

Hve just been reading in the local papers ona brighter note (no pun intended) that a local millionaire who wishes to remain anonymous is paying for them to go to disney world florida.
Its in times like these where you see everyone rallying together from allover the archery world be it field or target.
