Mick, all I can find out is that Pape's ( a rather large american wholesaler of archery gear) is the distributor of them, I have asked around the industry here but they all seem to deal with Jake's (whats with the first name thing   ) maybe as you suggest Steve can help from his side of the pond

But damn Mick if my retailer had of been able to get one I would have had the damn think ordered... they a simply stunning bows

Wow, had no idea anybody was still making something like these, but people are really getting into wood/hybrid lams and the trad look. I've put some inquiries into several sources here, hopefully will get some info back, but the holiday is screwing everything up, so I'm not going to hold my breath yet. Have you contacted that Estonia company, Kirk?

Hey Steve B & Steve,

Are they sweet lookin bows or what, I sent a mail to Falco but no reply as yet, as you say steve the holidays slows everything down.

I think one of these with exotic woods, and a Monster in flat black with fancy lams and antler nocks on the outboard limbs and i would be a happy man.

For a while anyhow

They are kinda sexy, ain't they? What answers I got back this morning say those bows seem to be export models, so Falco may be your best bet for info, as they're not being marketed here as yet. Great, now I've gotta learn Slavic...

Very nice looking bows....

I still have a wood-limbed compound (sort of...), and still think it was one of the nicest bows to shoot - mine wasn't fast though....

There is a company in the US who seem to be able to make wood limbs for compounds, but I have not seen a wooden-risered compound in a long while...

Sort of looks like the type of bow that border would make if they made compounds. There's a thought....

Blackheart, you may have something there, i could see these being popular amongst the trad archers looking for a bow to ease those aching joints, me being one of them.

My shoulder pays every time i go and shoot my trad bows. I have a Conquest 3 but it just doesn't do it for me. to high tech, to clinical and cold, i love the feel and look of wood.

I know Fedora bows used to make them and they are one of the most respected trad bowyers in America.

Martin archery made the warthog and American archery made the Puma (i think that was it's name)

I can see that hardened darksiders wouldn't give them a second look, to slow and low tech but for the Traditionalists amongst us they could be the way to go

So come on Border and any other UK bowyers a nice little project for you, re-invent the compound bow..

I wish i had a big workshop, i'm sure an old Border lightning riser would make a good platform for an experiment.

I believe it's possible for the traditional archers to reach ahead while reaching back for a modern bow with traditional lines and feel, and I doubt arrow speed would play a part with these folks.

However, I don't know if the high tech compound target shooters and hunters here in the U.S. would be so quick to accept this style of bow without a 300+ IBO speed?  Target shooters possibly,,,  hunters,,, maybe?  You never know?

It would not surprise me to someday see these bows classed in their own group.  Perhaps that could be the best thing for them as it helps to create the demand for the bow through target usage...

I agree entirely Joe, as for a different class i'd shoot one in Bowhunter class ( no sights n fingers), with a set of nice fat allys and a slick tab. With a few months practising gap shooting.
Your in the kill
Oh and it would have to have a two point Selway bow quiver

I have been looking for a bow like this for a long time now, i feel i'm getting a little closer. I also like the idea of a one piece trad compound, like the old Browning and Darton bows, i think they where just heavy recurves cut down with wheels fitted.
Although they where a little crude, i'm sure that with today's technology they could come up with a real nice one piece recurve compound.

Do i sound like an obsessed crackpot or is anyone else interested in this kind of thing

Might just be us two, Kirk....

If I could justify getting a new pair of wood limbs for my old PSE Laser flite (47" axle to axle 50# with round wheels) I would still be shooting it today - even with it's "blistering" speed of 218 fps using lightspeed arrows.

Personally I prefer stability over speed and longer axle-length bows (30" draw shooting off fingers), so a slower bow would not bother me greatly.

I would look nice next to my Border Reiver....

I agree, personally i wouldn't shoot a compound under 40" and prefer 42"/45"
one of the best bows i owned was a 42" High Country target bow with smooth cams and recurve carbon limbs.

My old Laserflite was 47" with a heady speed of 218 fps @ 50#....

The Cougar III Elite I am using now (42") is very good. Not had it speed tested, so don't know how fast it is (manufacturer quotes 320 fps, so it should not be very slow...)

Methinks we each have our ideal bow somewhere in the backs of our heads; just wish mine wouldn't constantly be changing as things get closer to that "ideal". I get the feeling that several of us have some combination of modern tech with a traditional look in mind, eh?

Your not wrong Steve.

look at the DAS now being marketed by the no1 traditional suppliers 3 Rivers, i have seen a few pics of this bow with snake skin backed limbs etc. The no1 Trad Tech recurve.

Ok now we want a compound with the same ethos.
