PostPosted: Thu May 08, 2008 5:04 pm    Post subject: Stolen - 2 Bickerstaffe Bows - Oxford, UK Reply with quote

One of our (Clifton Hampden Longbow Society) members has just advised me that they were burgled at some time between Sunday (4th) lunchtime and today (8th) lunchtime - they have been away for a few days since our shoot last Sunday.

The 'low lifes' entered by way of an axe to the utlity room at the back of the property in Clifton Hampden, Near Abingdon, Oxfordshire and removed various items incluing jewelry, television sets and two Bickerstaffe Bows.

I will try to post fuller details shortly - but in overview:

1 ladies bow (slightly shorter than standard - she is only little) @ 42lb - tri-laminate Classic Bow and has the lady's name (Yaz Nash) painted on the handle with the weights and Bickerstaffes normalk signature (so they may have to deface bow to remove. Burgundy leather grip.

I Standard tri-laminate bow @ 50lb with green leather grip and a piece of snakewood as the arrow pass instead of standard horn.

If anyone spots/hears anything would be grateful for a PM on here or call me on 07885 810679.

Thanks

Asking as your phone number is on it

Low life out and about again

Just hope they are found I will keep a lookout on Ebay just in case, I too think it a good idea to put this on the NFAS and AIUK,  Just need your permission Tim.

Like AFB I can put it on NFAS, I am sure one of our members can do the same for AIUK  and any other site anyone feels would be worthwhile

Thanks for the responses and offers of help guys !

I have already posted on AIUK - but anything you can do with NFAS and anywhere else etc please feel free, including my number.

Anything that can be done to stop/catch these toerags is fine by me.

Our members will be watching Ebay but please don't let that stop any of you keeping an eye open.

Tim, I have copied your post onto the NFAS web board (hope you dont mind me getting in there first AFB)

I have left your phone number on Tim and added email me from the web board instead of your PM message (no PM facility on NFAS)

If I hear anything from anyone I will pass it straight on to you Tim.

Hope we do hear something soon

Dawn - thanks (and all the rest of you).

I can be reached on webmaster@cloutabout.com as well.

If anyone finds the miscreants as well as the bows I promise to publish the resulting pictures of retribution!!

These people are a scourge on society.

The ladies bow was an absolute masterpiece - made with a lot of attention by Pip and has enabled Yaz to shoot clout/mark with 'the big boys' (we don't do girlies or 'old farts' any favours) despite being pretty diminutive. A 'special birthday' present, so for many reasons it will be missed although no doubt Pip will reproduce them and benefit from the insurance company's input.

Our biggest fear is that these bows will be misused by the half wits who stole them and pets, wildlife or- god forbid - people will suffer together with the reputation  of archery.

Received a possible lead by PM from a member on 'the other forum' tonight.

We are following it up and I will post an update in a few days.

My early Christmas wish is a couple of minutes alone with the lowlife(s) responsible !!
