|
|
Hi all
I have had a great practice day today 11am til 4pm. I have to say the first hour was a bit slow & frustrating as I could not seam to set the sight right. I started off shooting in my unit at 30ft from target but could not get any consistancy. I moved the sight up then down but neither made any real difference to my groups. I removed the sight and things got much better! I shot about another 300 arrows then went outside. The distance out there was about 70ft & without any sight it was the best shooting of the day
Can anyone help me with some guide lines for setting sights please?

A sight is just a mark that tells you where your aiming, it has no effect on grouping.
Normally, I'd suggest there is possibly some kind of overall technique problem you have. However, you say the grouping came back when you stoped using the sight. This suggests to me that you are doing something different with the sight than without. My lead guess is you are concentrating so much on the sight pin that you are forgetting something else. Here's a couple of suggestions.
If your grouping is out generally, do you move your head to meet the string, or do you correctly move the string to meet your head?
If your grouping is out horizontally, when you look through (or beside depending on your style) the string does it line up with the same part of the sight pin everytime?
If your grouping is out horizontally, are you concentrating on aiming the sight pin so much that your draw length is adjusting? remember just a centimetre of movement here is aproximately half a kilo of force difference in the arrow.
These are just some suggestions. I hope it helps.
