|
|
Could someone give me a basic run-down on how to glue arrow points and unibushings please?
I've got ACC arrows and would like to get into repairing all aspects of the arrow where possible.
Today, upon pulling out a G-nock (to upgrade to Beiter ones), the unibushing popped out too so I need to repair it.
I'm guessing hot melt glue is used, but how? Do I heat the point or the glue? do I need to heat the arrow? Do I dip it in a jar of water afterward to set the glue?

Use hotmelt,
WARM the insert / pile so that the glue stays fluid for a few seconds when applied. Heat the glue until it melts, apply to the inner end of the insert. Insert into shaft and rotate to distribute the glue evenly and slowly push in. Wipe off excess before it sets hard. Job Done

Ratty,
Is that just for piles, or are you supposed to glue in the unibushings as well?
Curious, as when quite often when I am removing damaged nocks from my X7's the uni bushing comes loose as well.

Yes I glue everything. The reason the unibushings come lose is due to the inserts not being roughed up before being glued.
I use some emery cloth on inserts and piles before gluing

I shoot ACC's and like Blackheart when I pull out the nocks the unibushings usually come out as well, not sure but I don't think they are glued in.
A tip someone once told me if the unibushings or the nocks are a bit loose put a bit of dental floss down the side as you push them in place

ptfe tape work well for loose bits
I certainly would recommend gluing inserts. You don't want those babies coming apart as you loose
Easton's packaged pin nocks and inserts give a diagram of where to apply the glue.

I'm in the same track of thought as Ratty and would say exactly the same I did have the saem problem with my ACC's with the unibushes and dropped a bit of hot melt on and they seemed to be alright after that.
Never thought of using ptfe tape will remember that one would it work for loose nocks as well do u think?????
