This is what we were doing this weekend and why we missed the birthday shoot.
Crownhill Fort just outside Plymouth, Victorian/Napoleonic in construction.
A well organised/military operation to put this shoot on by Toad Hollow Archers (Thank you)
and a great success, i do hope they will repeat it next year.
Easy 3+1/2 hr drive to get there, great hotel, tasty meals on the Barbican then a shoot the next morning.
What a weekend.
The setting was like no other shoot, every target was special with,
Clever shots like the Cannon thro a cannon,
Standing on top of a cannon,
Balancing on 2 cannonballs
Using their Trainer bow on revolving rats with blunts,
Kamodo dragons on the ramparts,
Pigs down underground tunnels,
William Tell shots with real apples and -20 points for hitting the head, etc.
Great fun. (Sorry the photos are a little dark)

I was booked in to shoot it, but unfortunately my travel companion was unwell, so I missed what looks like one of the best shoots for a long time.

That does look to be a lot of fun and to get to do a shoot at a historical location has to be very enjoyable!

It was full of history but you really didn't have too long to read the wall postings and absorb it all, and yes it was fun and so very different, the best shoot of the year for me.
From the laughter, talking, socialising and quantities of cameras being used, i'll wager i'm not alone in this sentiment.
I do hope Ian can put it on again, it does sound promising from his email. Watch this space i guess, and if it does, book quickly. This year was booked up in about 7 days, a record i feel.

That looked an awesome shoot. When I first heard of it I was tempted to go but was put off by the distance. I am beginning to wish that I had gone now.
Still hopefully with a bit of luck they will put it on again next year and I might get a chance. Trouble is with it being so successful this year I think there might be a bit of a fight for places
