Hi all just wonder what archers thought about Feather Tracers?? I'm finding it more difficult to see my arrows on the longer targets (old age before someone else say it lol) to my bad judgement on some of my targets at my last shoot I went high with my 1st arrow and could not see it and of course did the same with the other 2. One of our other archers has these Feather Tracers on his arrow and you can see as plain as day. 1) Does anyone know if they affect the flight of the arrow? 2) if it rains are they also affected? 3) and does anyone have any other advice on how I could see the pointy things other than me running up to the target seeing where the 1st one is and running back lol Bernie _________________ Don't look down on anyone unless your helping them up. Can't remember if you shoot Target or Field. I use a scope, shooting target. _________________ My shoes are too tight, but it doesn’t matter, because I have forgotten how to dance.

lol fair point I suppose you could always carry around one of those hand held monoculars, as long as it wasn't attached to the bow I can't see it breaking any rules, although I am not sure of the NFAS rules. I suppose if you got a really fancy one with a range finder in then peeps might complain _________________ My shoes are too tight, but it doesn’t matter, because I have forgotten how to dance.

I have a great pair of bieos and have been working great up untill now I think its more of my sight thats the problem. and yes I didn't want to use the range finder incase someone did say something. Thats why when I saw these Tracers on the other archers arrows and I was able to see them at least where they where going I thought Great Bernie _________________ Don't look down on anyone unless your helping them up. Topic moved on Bernies request Any form of sighting in NFAS is currently banned so other than using your eyes and a pair of readers there is not a lot you can do. Can not comment on tracers as I have never used them. By tracers do you mean some very fine flouresent feather near the nock on the arrow, I have seen this done and wouldn't imagine it make much of an impact on the flight of the arrow in field archery. _________________ Why not?

yep thats the ones Liam Yeah I knew sighting is banned at NFAS but on the GNAS shoots if your shooting non sighted you are still allowed binoculars and like I said I have a great pair but my owns sight eyes seem to be failing me lol _________________ Don't look down on anyone unless your helping them up. Hi bernie, I can speak on this topic (love 'em) as i have been using them constantly for the last 2 years now. They are made of very fine feather and i purchase mine online from Qui*ks (not sure of promotion rules here..lol) £3/doz. I use the red and my daughter uses the Orange and i can honestly say that they are the best thing since sliced bread and their popularity is increasing certainly locally. The following pics might give you an idea of how i see them, spot the tracer on the long distant shot? I did at this years Scottsih Champs have access to a practice field, where i shot full distance 43 degree angle with tracers on 3 arrows reaching 100 paces (read yards) and then out of curiosity stripped the tracers off 3 and repeated the process and only got 115 paces. Which in most shoots, will not make a whole lot of difference to me, considering the majority are under 45 yards. Besides that the arrow flight is learnt anyway. As for wet weather they slick back onto the shaft and you are back where you started really. What i do in this situation is put arrows in sets of 3's and cover them with a bag to keep them dry. This will however only last a certain length of time until you are left with a quiver full of wet ones. They do get wetter when they hit the ground and bury, so the best way is to hit the boss with all arrows or better still first arrow scoring My advice is do it. Next problem is putting them on........if you need a guide and photos to go with it just ask i need to do some soon anyway. All the best Mark.

I think there were tracers made of fur (seem to remember my Dad using them many years ago). I for one would be interested in a guide - I have a pack I bought a year or two ago that I never got around to using - partly because I didn't know how to fit them. Blackheart

I know of several people that use these bright fluffy tracers. Most have said that they bought them from fishing shops.

Thank you Mark Would love you to do the Photos and guide, lol Just about getting my flechings on right Yours look great and just what I need the points I lost a few weeks ago down to me not seeing the 1st arrow was unbelivable and really very stupit on my part.
