Good Morning to all,

I am a certified No0b and as such refuse to spend my £800 budget on "proper" equipment until i find a bow style, pull weight etc that I like/can manage.

My question is this.........

You obviously have the standard ILF fitting but there is also a squared version of the fitting that I cannot find a name for. They are often supplied with VERY basic starter kits such as Polaris, Rolan and Samick.

Does anyone know what these limb fittings are called?

I'm off to Quicks on Friday and don't know if they stock them.

Cheers All - Rich

The ILF fitting is a standard across all makes and models that support it.

ANYthing else is brand specific, and will not neccesarily fit to any other brand.

Yes perris do do the "square" fitting limbs to which you refer, but they are for their risers. They may fit yours if it is not a perris riser. Mainly cause quite a few of the archery shops that claim their own range of startup kit is actually just a rebranding of the same bows.

Oh an also I know perris' "square" fitting comes in two sizes

my advice is take your riser with you and make sure they fit in the shop.

I hope that helps

MJ,

The riser is coming with me regardless - I was hoping it would be a little more simple than than but hey ho - you live and learn.

This was exactly why the ILF was agreed between manufactures.

It used to be if you bought a riser from on company you tied yourself into their limbs.

Companies specialising in Limbs or Risers were completely stuck, unless they manufactured for another companies kit specifically, which as you can imagine narrowed there market a little.

To be fair my previous post may have seemed a little doom and glome, I haven't yet found a wooden take down training bow that cannot swap limbs with another. (except where perrises two sizes are concerned)

Sorry to disagree, but the ILF has not been agreed between manufacturers. In fact, there is no such thing as an ILF standard.

Hoyt, under Earl Hoyt (I believe) came up with the Hoyt limb fitting, and other manufacturers simply copied it. Hoyt decided not to reinforce the patent or licence it, and therefore it has become an unofficial "standard". This is why there are sometimes problems fitting limbs from one manufacturer into risers made by another.

fair enough, but it is true to say it has become as good as a standard. I can't see it changing in a hurry.
