wasn't sure whether to put this here or elsewhere, so if the Mods think it shold move, then please do!

I'm hosting a bowmaking course next month and I have a couple of places spare. I though the Archers would be a good place to recruit!

Details:

Date:April 21st-22nd (sat and sun)
Location: My woods Nr Cheriton Bishop in Devon
Tutor: DAVID SINFIELD (aka Bentstick on some fora)
Bow: European flatbow, selfbow hopefully!
Price £110 plus materials (£20)

David is going to teach a small group of people in the woodland workshop to make a European flatbow (actual design I think will be sorted out be David)from a single piece of wood, hopefully ash but we have alternatives (laminated staves are available for the nervous ). Assuming all goes to plan, we will have a shootable bow at the end of the two days, though some sanding and finishing will most likely need ot be done at home afterwards. Around the campfire in the evening we will be able to make a couple of arrows and a string.

If we get the time on the sunday (otherwise for those that want to, on the monday) we can try our new toys out around my small, but fun field course! The reason that we are making this type of bow and not the normal lonbow is coz I've always wanted to make myself a European flatbow

It also means that we will have a bow that will conform to the new PRIMITIVE CLASS in NFAS. Which is good, since that's what I intend to shoot when I get back out there!

If anybody is interested, please get in touch. Also have a look at my website for any details that I may have mmissed out

Dave Ive popped this into here as it may get more attention in this forum - Liam

(in his sig )
Edit: Except the one in your sig doesn't work Dave. This seems to be the correct address; http://www.davebudd.com/

I'd love to do a course like that, I could probably even afford it and my in-laws live in Tiverton so I'd have somewhere to stay. Unfortunately it's on the weekend of my wife's birthday so I don't think I'd be able to get a pass-out for it

bring your wife with you! Devon is a lovely place to stay for a few days, besides, wouldn't she like to spend her birthday with the parents while you go off out

I'd be there if it wasn't for it been one of my weekends with kids, oldest 2 would love it as well but I think the 3 yr old is a bit young to try!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've wanted to have a go at flatbow making for ages but have never quite felt I've had enough practice to move bow styles from longbow making without some help!
Is it the same David who taught longbow making at the woodlands trust in Ironbridge a few years ago (just can't remember his surname!)?

Jim, I checked my pms after replying here

I don't know if it's the same David as Ironbridge, but I know he has taught groups before.

Here's his website: www.customarchery.net
